I think I have a crush on Jean-Paul Belmondo.     :)

I just looked him up on IMDb and I didn't know that he was still alive.  And he's younger than Sondheim (almost a South Pacific reference ;)).

Yes, MrBelmondo is still alive and this is how he looks now!

Ouch!!

Anyone know a good barber?  Shave and a haircut, two bits!

Nope, but hopefully a good guy (you) will get a great deal on a condo!

Might as well take advantage of someone else's misfortune.  ;)

I prefer to look at it as stimulating the economy.

I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off.   I can't believe how difficult it was to keep both days clear on my schedule but I did it.  I know when I need a little time to myself and I need a little time to myself.  A four day weekend isn't really long enough, but it's going to be great.

Tomorrow is the Siouxland Film Festival. I'm looking forward to seeing the films I judged on the big screen and seeing the graduate student films.  The rest of the time I'll do some spring cleaning and hopefully get more work done on the basement and just hang out with the cats. I may hang out at the local coffee joint and just do whatever I feel like at the moment.

I've been tempted to go to work tomorrow because there's just so much to do. But, I'm going to resist.  I fought too hard to keep my calendar clear to use the time working.

The article says you are making your professional debut with the company, MR BK.  So we shall await the upcoming notes with anticipation......and short notes tomorrow with an anecdote or two will suffice for the weekend.

Since I am not working tomorrow....I shall be home....sick....sick....sick....I shall watch some DVD's sent me by DR MBARNUM and other exciting DVD's that have been stacked up including Mr Jonny Lee Miller as BYRON!

Was it not Alexandre deToqueville who wrote that the end of the Republic would come when its leaders learned that the public could be bribed with its own money?

I spent most of today running around, having documents notarized, then trying to set up utilities, security service, insurance and other stuff at the Austin house.  It's not easy to do when you don't have an exact closing date.

Sorry BK, but I'm not going to be able to make your event tomorrow.  Assuming the sale of our Los Angeles house gets funded by mid-week, we are planning to depart next Saturday...and there is just so much yet to do.

I hope it goes well.

The pictures of MR TEDDY were also much appreciated....

MR BK under the dryer......just like he was rehearsing for a production of STEEL MAGNOLIAS.....

I have decided that most local productions of STEEL MAGNOLIAS are bad because all of the Annelles are really just girls who really wanted to be Shelby.  I have also worked on enough productions of the show to know that eventually all of the actresses are going to complain that the girl playing Annelle is hurting them when she "does" their hair.

I met also Saul Chaplin back in the 1980s.

Comedian Jack Carter, who hired me to write a one-person play about Al Jolson for him, arranged for the three of us to lunch together, so that I could interview him re: Jolson.

Ultimately, Carter and I had a disagreement and parted ways on the play.  He paid off my contract and I kept ownership of the play.  It, subsequently, had a very successful run in the Los Angeles area during the late 1980s, then during the late 1990s played throughout Florida and elsewhere.

During the Los Angeles run, we had a lot of people come who were associated with Jolson: Betty Garrett (Mrs. Larry Parks), songwriter Walter Donaldson's daughter and Davy Lee (the original Sonny Boy), then probably in his late 50s or early 60s.  On the night that Lee was there, the actor playing Jolson (Thom Keane) brought him up onto the stage and they sang "Sonny Boy" together.  It was quite a moment.

On another night, there was an elderly lady sitting in the front row of the audience.  Jolson had a line about his 2nd wife: "She divorced me!"

The elderly lady called out, "I don't blame her!"

Turns out that she had been a Ziegfeld girl, and didn't like Jolson.

I finished the rest of the bonus features on the DANTON second disc. After the 42 minute documentary finished, there were two interview featurettes. Together they totaled about half an hour or a little more.

Next, I took BLACK NARCISSUS off the shelf. I had started watching it a couple of weeks ago, but I only got about 15 minutes in before I had to stop it and do something else. Tonight, I finished watching it. Such a fine film. It's one I always enjoy revisiting.

I didn't have quite enough time for THE YELLOW ROLLS-ROYCE tonight (definitely tomorrow), so I pulled THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL off the shelf and watched that. Hadn't seen it in a long time either, so it was a good film to revisit, too.

Since I got no new review discs this weekend, I will have all weekend to watch what I please. If THE ROBE comes tomorrow, it'll definitely get a spot on the bill.

If not, it will be the perfect time to watch ALEXANDER - THE FINAL CUT on Blu-ray. I am excited about getting to see this on Blu-ray and in its final form.

My sister literally just called me, asking if I had watched "BG" yet.  I said that I'm just now leaving work and will watch it as soon as I get home.  She said for me to call her as soon as I've watched it.

Will do.

Bye...again.

In other news...

I spent about four hours walking up and down the "Historic King Street Shopping District" here in Charleston.  I came across some very cool places: an Urban Outfitters that used to be a movie theater (the proscenium arch is still intact!), a Starbucks that used to be a jewelry store and bank, and a couple of other theaters that have been repurposed as reception halls.  Many pictures were taken, but I probably won't sort through and edit them until Sunday.  Stay tuned.
