That means you still have plenty of time to change the channel before Lee starts "singing."

I have been madly registering Sony BDs on the BD-Live site and now have quite a little bundle to spend.

Or I could watch my friend, Erin Dilly, on "Law & Order".  It's a repeat, but it's new to me. ;)

In the Footloose pit listening to the 80's pre-show music and reading the 80's trivia on the video screen.  Sad to think this was the music of my high school years.  These kids have no clue!!!  However, they are rockin' the show.

Off to cut loose!

You'll either thank me for this or hate me - but Warners has taken a leaf from Arkiv Music and they're about to release a whole slew of movies via their new Warners Archive line - only available on the Internet - some incredible titles that I think we can now assume won't ever see the light of a proper release - I'm sure they're spending nothing on remastering them properly, but I think our dear readers will definitely want to get some of these.

http://www.wbshop.com/Warner-Archive/ARCHIVE,default,sc.html?prefn1=format&prefv1=Warner%20Archive&psortb1=name-sort&psortd1=1

One of the more interesting titles is one of Steve McQueen's last films and a pet project...An Enemy of the People. It played the Montreal Film Festival and I don't think it ever was released in Canada and probably played a few cities in the USA.

And I guess the Crowded Sky predated Airport 1975 by 15 years.

And my favorite film title is The Devil is A Sissy

THE CROWDED SKY must have been one of Troy Donahue's first films.

BK, did you notice that your old co-star Gerrit Graham (the original Rodzinski)  is going to be at the Burbank Hollywod show next month?

Here is the link to the new website. http://www.hollywoodshow.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=40&Itemid=109

Looking at the lineup of porn actresses I think I am not missing much by not attending this time  :P

I wonder if this is the direction the new owners are going towards.

I wonder what poor Edith Fellows will think if she is seated at the table next to Mary Carey.Oy!

I asked the stage manager of GUYS AND DOLLS to send me a cast list, so that I can see if I knew anyone in the show.  I received it earlier this evening, but it only lists last names.  Hmmm.

I spent the first part of my evening watching the Blu-ray of THE ROBE. What stuck me immediately and for the entire film was how thoroughly scrubbed the image is from the monstrosity of the previous DVD release. All the specks and debris were completely gone.

Were there soft moments? Sure.
Were there scenes that looked more digitized than others? You bet!
Did flesh tones vary throughout the presentation? Yep.

And none of it mattered because watching it in this clean print with beautifully saturated color and wonderfully clear, tight sound was just a marvelous viewing and listening experience.

I had tears in my eyes on several occasions during the movie, so it worked its magic on me.

Next, I went to the bonus features and watched "The Making of THE ROBE."

I didn't know much about its genesis as a film, so all of that was very interesting. And Jay Robinson's stories about the production were also fun. Didn't know he wasn't first choice for Caligula either.

Next, I watched "The Cinemascope Story." Most of the facts in this I was aware of already, but it was still an OK little informational featurette.

Of course, now after being steeped in THE ROBE and its making, I had to take DEMETRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS off the shelf and watch that.

Entertaining, but oh boy does it now look awful compared to THE ROBE! (I felt the opposite when all we had was the old ROBE DVD.) Lots of specks and debris (especially in the first half of the film). I hope Fox won't wait too long to tackle this one for Blu-ray. It needs some attention.

I didn't quite get finished with it. There are still about 10 minutes left. I don't remember at all how it ends, so I'll look forward to that tomorrow.

Also on tap for tomorrow afternoon will be QUO VADIS on Blu-ray. In the evening before DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, I'll likely watch '21.'

I recently got back in contact with a friend I worked with.  We used to have so much fun laughing at work.  When I find out he was he going to be moving,  we had interviewed several people, and it became clear (to me anyway) how difficult it was finding anyone like that to brighten my work day.  So, I asked him to come up with an interview question that I could ask that would insure I'd have something to talk about with whoever was hired. He said, "Name two Ethels-- if they say either Merman or Mertz, you know they're OK."

Has anyone heard any buzz about the Blu Ray release of South Pacific? I am curious if they fixed the color in the roadshow version so that the re-inserted footage matches the rest of the film. I hope it does.

Otherwise I think I will skip the release.

Sorry to say it, but it looks as if Fox simply either doesn't want to spend the money or someone has told them it cannot be done.  Either way ... look at this WWW.DVDBEAVER.COM overview and check out the "captures".
