listened to another artist's choice cd, Joni Mitchell-music that matters to her.  also really really good.

she was all I listened to in the late 60's / early 70's (I had several friends that lived in Laurel Canyon and hung out there almost every weekend, and then later moved there for a year or so.)

good times.

to be young again.

I've had a very full evening of filmed and televised entertainment.

I began with QUANTUM OF SOLACE. This is the James Bond film made for a generation of ADHD chilren. A series of action set pieces one after another with a plot between that was rather poorly written. The stunt work is excellent, and it's less than two hours so a much easier film to sit through quickly than CASINO ROYALE. This is Bond stripped down to the basics in every way possible: there was one quip, a tiny bit of lovemaking, and lots and lots of action scenes.

Oh, yes, and one of the guys Bond is hunting is named Guy Haines.

I'll have to watch this again in about a week to see if my opinion changes. I did like CASINO ROYALE more the second time I watched it.

The Blu-ray had magnificent video quality, really reference level quality, I thought. The DTS-HD MA sound seemed a little underpumped for such an action-filled spectacle.

Next I put in one of the Warner Archive discs I got today: THIS WOMAN IS DANGEROUS with Joan Crawford, David Brian, and Dennis Morgan. The picture quality was very good; the sound was a bit hissy and crackly. Still, it is better quality than I would have gotten by recording it off TCM without the TCM corner "bug" and there's a trailer on there, too.

I got about 40 minutes of it watched before stopping it. I'll finish it tomorrow.

It can't be THAT bad for her...she's still sitting there typing instead of headin' for the hills!

True. :)

The situation in Fargo is very serious. She may be taking breaks from helping with the sandbagging or something.

I agree with Laura. It's very bad and we have asked her to keep us informed. I'm glad she's stopping by to let us know.

Next, I finished watching IDOL from Wednesday night. Adam had far and away the most haunting vocal performance, really in a class by itself this week. Allison was OK though I heard bum notes from her and Danny. Very disappointed in Lil, too. It was a real off night for her on a night when she should have been able to blow everyone else out of the water.

Thanks for the vibes.  It took a hot fudge sundae and some malted milk easter eggs but I feel much better.  I suppose the Tums and the Gas-X may have had something to do with it, too.

hello everyone.

Cillaliz, I'm glad you're feeling better. I think it was the hot fudge sundae and malted milk Easter eggs.

Then I skimmed through the results show.

I was horrified that Megan was not one of the bottom three. I guess folks are giving her the benefit of the doubt since it was obvious she was still under the effects of the flu, but she was really bad.

I shed no tears for the person send home; he wasn't going to win anyway and wasn't a really strong singer. He was not a wild card person, though, so the public's non-support was a bit of a surprise.

I agree completely.  I was concerned that the subject of Izzy would be overdone as they sometimes do, but it wasn't and I thought the entire episode was really good

At 10, I went back to the DVR and watched tonight's SUPERNATURAL. What a delightful episode!

Yes, delightful! Lots of fun to see the boys in other guises.

And their pseudonyms: Smith and Wesson!  BIG LAUGH!
