I just spoke with DakotaCelt. She has left Fargo and is safe.

Luckily, I have seen that they think the flood waters have now peaked, so let's hope so.

Here's an interesting question.

[I don't believe it has been asked before.  Or, if it was, I'm not aware of it.]

Did Frank Sinatra really win an Academy Award for FROM HERE TO ETERNITY?

 ???

I'm asking because I just watched a clip on YouTube (see below) of Mercedes McCambridge announcing him as the winner, and she never looks in the envelope.

That's just as I remembered it when I watched it on TV over 50 years ago.

Anyway, take a look for yourself:

Well, I'm doing my bit to stimulate the economy, too.  I've bought a new car.  The dealership is trying to acquire new-ish cars to resell, so they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.  I'm replacing my 3 year old Toyota Camry [50,000+ miles] with a brand new Camry.  And keeping the same payment.

Oh, my, I thought a new computer was stimulating!  Congratulations, DR DAW!

DR Ginny - I hope AppleCare is able to walk you through the transfer of your iTunes library.  I would have chimed in yesterday, but I got sidelined by my 4-hour malady.  -It is sort of a simple procedure, but it's also one of those things that if you don't check all the right boxes and keep track of where is and will be going, it can get a little convoluted.  -Do you have an iPod? That makes things much easier.  Otherwise, too many cables and/or CDs can be involved.

DR Jose - yes, it took 3 phone calls (2 Brads and 1 Nicole), but my iTunes library is now installed on my MacBook.  We did use my iPod as an external hard drive and it's fully restored, too.

I am very impressed with AppleCare.  For the final steps, I went online, stated my problem, and my phone rang almost immediately (it was Nicole).

Hope you're feeling better!

Got a few packages, but NOT the ones that are WAY overdue.  Listening to a potential upcoming Kritzerland project - I really have to think about this one, as it's very interesting but not a typical release.  It does feature a score, but there's a lot of talking over it - still, it's quite interesting and good.

Had myself a very lazy day.  Did some decluttering, some reading, some web surfing and now I'm going to watch the news and play with my iTouch.

Back, and have typed up five pages of notes for my Cabaret Workshop Monday night, which means I'm probably finished with work for the day.  Earlier I finished my Seesaw notes, and will peruse them two or three more times and then send them off tonight.

Well, since I'll be at the theater ushering, the lights in my house will be off, anyway.  Does that count? :)

Last year and the year before , I bought tickets to everything in pairs.

Someone always went with me, but it became such a pain, that this year I'm going by myself
to everything.

I ended up always being the driver, and driving on their schedule of when to leave and when to come home.

You can often get great seats when you are only looking for a single

I still have about 30 or so measures of music to "fully" teach, and we have two weeks of rehearsal before we go into tech.  Plenty o' time!  No worries.

Just finished watching Forget-Me-Not Lane, which I quite enjoyed.  At intermission, I went back and re-read BK's notes for that day and some of the posts.  I had the same experience with a Netflix copy as DR DAW described.  No sound when using a DVD player and TV, but it worked fine on my old eMac.

If I  had to chose a Peters, it would be Roberta! ;)

But then, nobody's asking me! :)

Didn't Roberta Peters appear on an episode of "Columbo" - or some other detective series - during the 1970's?  I seem to remember her singing "Sempre Libera" in a recital setting (with a pianist).

Before I came to work today, I went to my garage to see if I could (quickly) find my CD(s) of Bernadette Peters' live concert that Michael S. was asking about.  I couldn't, but I did find my DVD of "Forget-Me-Not Lane"!  I'll definitely check it to see if mine has the same problem.  I have to admit that, for as long as I've had it, I haven't watched it yet. ::)

Listening to Diana Krall's just about to be released new CD, Quiet Nights.  Beautiful charts by Claus Ogerman and production by Tommy LiPuma, but this woman puts me to sleep.  She just thinks that this breathy thing is so sexy and it's so boring after one song - she flatlines every song - no variety, no nuance, no color, just breath and trying to do what far lesser singers did so effortlessly - singers like Astrud Gilberto and her ilk.  Her phrasing is so weird - just not a fan.  How these people cross over and sell albums is really a mystery to me and always has been.  It's a real 60s album without any of the soul - strictly paint by numbers instead of an original painting.
