MR BK is in the Big Apple.

Besides looking in the mirror - my question for ASK BK DAY (second question)....who is the first see-lebrity you have seen on this trip?

I then watched THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE. Wonderful performances. I didn't even remember Richard Jordan in it, and he's very good. Mitchum sublime as always. Peter Boyle has a good part and does very well. Loved Steven Keats, too. Wonderful cast: Alex Rocco and Mitch Ryan and Joe Santos all do well.

Are they patent leather?  Do they reflect up?

Next, I listened to Peter Yates' commentary. The film is one of his three favorites (THE DRESSER and BREAKING AWAY are the other two; what? no BULLITT?), and he seems to love just about everything about it. Time seems to have erased specific stories about the filming, alas.

The only other bonus feature on the disc is a stills gallery of backstage shots with cast, crew, and friends. There is a booklet naturally.

Of course, this IS one of the "budget" Criterion releases.

And I ended my afternoon by skimming through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest for me, but the boys are in the previews for tomorrow's show.

I'm about to walk over to the post office so I can buy a couple of books of the Fo'evah Stamp so I can avoid the two cent postal hike on Monday.

Gosh, I am so cheap...

No, you're not. I've done the same thing in the past week.

I bought a pack of 100 at Costco when they were still 41¢.  I still have more than 40...even after giving my sister 40.

I've just picked up a short-term and part-time job organizing and cataloguing someone's [print] music library.

Congratulations!  That was fast too.

And speaking of the post office...sort of...Post office has $1.9 billion loss in quarter. :P

I try quoting someone....the quote pops up and then disappears and the Quick Reply box is just an empty place.

I never use the Quick Reply box.  In my profile, I have the "Use quick reply on topic display:" option set to "show, off by default" and I've never had any trouble.  I always use the "Quote" button or the "Reply" button. :-\

Today I have ordered 20 feet of Subway sandwiches:

6 feet of ham
6 feet of cold cut combo
3 feet of tuna salad
3 feet of chicken salad
2 feet of veggie

They will be cut in 4" portions, half on white bread, half on whole wheat, with lettuce and tomato.  Cheese, pickles, and black olives on the side.  Add 2 kinds of chips, assorted beverages (pop, water, coffee & tea), and assorted cookies and you have the menu for the lunch following Richard's deacon ordination service.  It will be in the breakfast area of the Hampton Inn, across the parking lot from the Hilton where the ceremony will take place.  This is all in Northern Kentucky, near the Greater Cincinnati airport.

OK, here's something weird:  I bid on and won the BD of the Batman Anthology on eBay.  About 3 days later I got a sealed box from Amazon with it in it, which I thought was peculiar, but which was fine.  I thought maybe somebody used a giftcard or something.  Well today (almost a week and a half after the auction closed) I got emails from eBay and PayPal saying they had "ended" the auction and that I shouldn't complete the transaction.  Isn't that weird?

DAW, once you're done there, please hie yourself to PDX.   I have both a home office and office office music library that need urgent attention.  ;)
