Dropping by again to say hi. This will probably not translate well to the printed page, but I was watching TAKEN last night and I got to that point where Liam Neeson says "I have a set of very specific skills," at which point the boys (who obviously have inherited my outre sense of humor) said from the other room:

(in a high Monty Python voice) I can talk in this high squeaky voice while flapping my arms like a dodo. I also crochet lovely sweaters. And if you press my belly button, I sing Ode to Joy backwards in German.

I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe.

When i was a kid my grandmother was very into card games. I remember my sister and i playing often with "the ladies". Go Fish for sure. And Gin.

Speaking of the Jonas Brothers, i saw a bit of them last night. They were the hosts of the Much Music Video awards (sort of like MTV, although there is an MTV canada).

I guess whoever was in charge of the show was trying to get a lot of big current names. They had the Jonas Brothers performing. Kelly Clarkson. Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas. Lady Ga ga.

I only saw the beginning. But it was odd. It looked like it was held outside (?). And there were no seats. But thousands and thousands of screaming teens!

Cleaning, cleaning...

I just threw out any old and questionable stuff in the fridge - which happened to include some items that the previous tenants happened to leave behind. So kind of them. $:-\$

And now we're going through the other closets in the apartments... Where are finding some other things left behind by the previous tenants...

What to do? What to do?

Nope. No Broadway Bares for me this year. Actually, now that I think of it, it's been a couple of years since I've been to a Bares. I do appreciate the philanthropy behind the event, however, I will say that I've been turned off recently by all the hype and the craziness of it. I also didn't feel like standing outside in the rain for two hours waiting to get into Roseland.

*And due to the very cramped quarters, there's no way I would have subjected Monkey to those near-"should I call the Fire Marshall" conditions".

Oy, the Open Society Institute presentation is a go at 2pm on Tuesday June 30 and then the next day we troupe over to the Starr Foundation and present the same thing to them from 10-12. We get lunch afterwards.

I watched LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT while I ate lunch. Yes, this was the Karen Ziemba episode and an overall creepy episode.

Then I watched THE JONAS BROTHERS Blu-ray concert film.

Well, the music (apart from the CAMP ROCK songs which I was familiar with) meant nothing to me, but the boys do work hard to do something apart from just standing there singing.

I have to say youngest brother Nick is either undergoing that period of his life when his voice is changing or he's simply not a very good singer. He's also a nasally singer, my least favorite kind of voice.

Kevin didn't sing a single solo song. Joe got the most solos and then Nick took lead in about four numbers. They might as well have just forgotten about Taylor Swift who came out for one song with the boys. Demi Lovato sang her song from CAMP ROCK and dueted with Joe, but otherwise, she could also have stayed home.

The crowds were huge for them.

The 3-D worked a little better on this than on the Miley Cyrus concert disc, but the old anaglyph system just isn't great. They did throw a bunch of stuff at the camera and set up a couple of numbers to utilize the 3-D. They also sprayed the crowd with foam which looked rather startling in 3-D.

As I thought, the extras were meager. Two bonus songs and a 15-minute behind the scenes look at their BURN UP tour. I looked at what was there, but I finished with plenty of time to spare.

So I watched the penultimate episode in the CLOSER Season 4 set. This was the one when Fritz's sister barges into town and with her "psychic" abilities, helps Brenda to solve the case. Pretty good episode.

I'm thinking I may have to cancel. Even though the presentation isn't until 2pm and it's at the Center the people in charge are famous for rehearsal and micro-managing an event to death. I'll make a decision tomorrow when I know more.
