I don't remember that I have had any particularly joyous July 4th holidays....but I will enjoy reading comments today.

DR TCB you are probably right about Mr Larson and Ms Neill.

The HAIR revival cast album arrived yesterday.  It is in the cardboard Digi Pak.....cd with no paper cover on one side of the filp open book and booklet on the other side.  I guess plastic cases are going the way of the dinosaur.

If you ordered the Twelfth Night CD from Werkshop from the link DR DAW posted a few days ago, your card will be charged, however the album is to be released in AUGUST and you will not receive it until then - says "Mary" in her email to me.

The site does say preorder....I now notice in the small text....but AUGUST is not mentioned at all.  Nothing to do but wait, and NEVER EVER EVER order anything from them again.  EVER....

TOD

For 30 years or so when I lived in Canada we had July 4th. But I didn't do anything.

One year I was in Switzerland we had July 4th and I didn't do anything,

The last decade or so living in Florida sometimes I went to a party. Sometimes I was in Canada (See #1) and sometimes I just relaxed and enjoyed the day off.

Good morning, all! I admire the reasons for the Fourth of July celebrations but, outside of the evening fireworks at Barnitz Field, it was always a family day with my mother's family, the six siblings, all the in-laws, and all my cousins. The most memorable part of the day was great food and the worst part of the day was the sibling rivalries that eventually flared up in little bits and pieces. The day waas spent, usually, in the largew back yard of my Aunt Jean's house. We'd all return to  Barnitz Field, suffering from sunburn, exhaustion, and praying it would be cool enough to allow us to sleep after the big shebang was over.

Today, work. I've got to stop by Alex Rybeck's to pck up Liz' two charts and head down to Toyland. When I get back here, I've got so many choices of things to do.

Is there any buzz on VANITIES, the musical at Second Stage?

I really liked David Kirschenbaum's work on SUMMER OF '42, and am curious as to whether his work on VANITIES will be as good as that score.

Good morning!

A cool morning to start off with, but later when I went to sweep off the front stoop, it was already HOT. Going to be another blustering day here. Ugh!

TOD:

The most memorable 4th celebration that comes immediately to mind was with some former friends of mine who lived on Lake Wylie. Each year, they'd have a picnic spread on their grounds, and then they'd take the boat out on the lake where the fireworks would go off around 9 p.m. Just sitting in that quiet boat watching the fireworks go off was sort of magical.

Back in those years, I was off from teaching for the summer, so it was a no hassle, free and easy evening, and I looked forward to it every year.

My friend Jeff was going to have a cookout tonight, but suddenly made beach plans and had to cancel his party. (That's why I was invited to dinner on Wednesday night last.)

So, tonight, I have no plans for celebrating the 4th. Will likely be working anyway. More of that later.

For my work project tonight, I'll be watching FOR ALL MANKIND, this time on Blu-ray. With the contents of the disc already watched and written up, it's just a matter of seeing the Blu-ray resolution and HD sound and revising those portions of the review to reflect the HD content.

The film isn't long, so I should have time to view something fun later in the evening.

Since I have nothing on the DVR recorded for the last couple of days, I'll be resuming '1776' while I cook and eat lunch. I love the movie so much that it'll be a real pleasure to see it again.

The DVD looks nice upconverted, but I'd sure love to have it on Blu-ray.

Good morning and happy 4th!

I don't recall any particular memorable Independence Days in my past, however as a kid I was always thrilled by the sparklers and fireworks that we would set off....even as I was envious of he bigger and better fireworks that our neighbors Mark and Scott Adams had.

I spent a good part of yesterday putting CDs into binders and tossing the plastic, clear cases. Gosh, I came across tons of music I had forgotten I even had, and it was interesting to see how much of it was purchased due to the fact that variious and sundried HHWers had mentioned the cds on this here website or had been sent to me by HHWers.

I assume/hope there weren't any people who were relying on Jeff's cookout as their July 4th celebration plans, who then found themselves just a few days before July 4th with nothing to do because of the beach plans.

FJL, I saw Vanities (but didn't write much about it) at the Pasadena Playhouse.  From what I've been reading they have made changes to both score and book but the show still seems to be what it is - the play with songs stapled on.  There's one great show-stopping number (The Same Old Music) but I found the score to be only okay.  I really like David, though, and think he's very talented.
