For anyone amused by such things, an internet friend who knows I'm became a little gaga at having gotten over 10,000 views when I was previously (that is, just four or five days ago) very content and happy with 2500-4000 views sent me this link:

http://www.slate.com/id/2221553/

which is basically about the "likelihood" of anyone ever getting a million views on YouTube :)

Perhaps next time you should ask Susan Boyle to sing your parody.

DR TCB, are you okay? What are you doing to help yourself after your tumble?

I am about to go soak in a very hot tub, and then I will go to bed.  Unfortunately, I will not be doing anything in the near future that requires me to get on my knees.

Seriously, take care of yourself, TCB.  If you can tolerate them, I'm told the thing to do is to take the pain relievers before the pain becomes unbearable, at least that's what I've always been told.

I feel so bad.

My niece stayed over tonight. When we were eating dinner, the person beside her spilled hot coffee and it landed on her (she is almost 4).

She had such a look of panic on her face (it spilled a bit on her arm and leg).

Anyhow i grabbed her right away and within a few seconds had stipped off all her clothes and was running cool water in the shower. So that part I was proud of myself for.

Yes, but in the middle of he restaurant?

DR Jennifer accidents happen & you did do everything right.  Keeping the cold compress on longer might not have prevented the blisters.  Guilt comes with the territory when the kids are so young.;)

Or something to relax the muscles before they get really sore.

Well, I have taken a Vicodin and a muscle relaxer (which probably explains all of my stupid posts - tonight anyway)

IM WEISSEN ROSSL is a lot of fun. I imagine the Morbisch productions are a lot like the old Jone Beach spectacles: a huge stage with enormous casts. I'm in Act one of the operetta, which is originally set in 1870 or so, but this production has the actors in 1930s clothing. The cast is enormous and the musical staging very funny. It's all very Austrian country with half of the chorus girls in maid's uniforms and the other half as tourists, the dancers are dressed as country milkmaids in dirndls, the male dancers are very buff in liederhosen and no shirts and the men's chorus dressed as tourists or guides. For the milkmaids' number, the boys were dressed as cows a la GYPSY, very silly and very funny. The orchestra is wonderful.

As if to reclaim my sanity, the video's at 29885 and I refuse to wait up for those slow 115 people to get it to 30,000, so there!

I'm realizing they don't update YouTube times-watched one by one anyway.  It seems to be at some interval only the Youtube Powers That Be seem to know about.

I really liked IM WEISSEN ROSSL; it's staged within an inch of its life and very well done. My only complaint is that the idiot tv crew keeps cutting from the numbers to the back of the audience to show us the enormity of the stage, audience, and lake and it screws up some wonderful moments in the staging. Highly recommended.

Yikes!  My short nap lasted 2 1/2 hours.

When I do that, I find I can't fall asleep at night easily. I hope you don't have that problem tonight.

I began with my work assignment: FOR ALL MANKIND on Blu-ray. Looked nice and sounded great (DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio track), and the movie is so stirring that its 80 minutes pass in what seems like half the time.

Then I sampled all of the extras which I had watched on the DVD. They're all in high definition, something Criterion is very good about doing when they port extras over from DVD to Blu-ray.

When that was finished, I went over to my stack of unwatched Warner Archive discs and picked out TARZAN'S SECRET FOUNTAIN, Lex Barker's first Tarzan movie, and it brought back many, many memories of Sunday afternoon watching Tarzan movies on TV while my dad was playing golf (the minute he got in, we had to hope the movie was finished, because he'd immediately change to channel to see whatever golf tournament was playing on Sunday afternoon.)

When that was finished, I had about 45 minutes to spare before I needed to come up and work on my review, so I pulled out BONES - Season 2 and watched the episode about the death of a girl found in a chandelier after a big explosion goes off at a party.

Enjoyable.

I recorded BURN AFTER READING off HBO-HD tonight, but I likely won't watch it until Monday.

Right now, I plan to take Monday off. I only have two review discs left: both are Criterion's REPULSION, one on DVD and one on Blu-ray. I'm going to do the DVD tomorrow afternoon and then hope some review discs come in the mail on Monday so I can break up watching REPULSION so close to one another on the two different encodes.
