Larry - Is this the Darrel Karl from castrecl? I remember him going on the castrecl list a while back and saying he was going to stop posting reviews because no one was responding to them - but now it seems he posts them again with great thought and detail, and is actually writing with even more insight than he did before he almost stopped. (I like his writing a great deal, but as with Matthew Murray the All That Chat critic, my admiration for Mr. Karl's writing ability makes me wish he liked what i did, that he didn't dismiss my work so - for want of a better word - dismissively.

It is the same Darrel Karl. I like his discographies quite a lot. I had not noticed his being dismissive of your work, DR FJL. I suspect, if it's the parodies to which you refer and not THE LAST STARFIGHTER, he's not relating to them because they're not from shows. I cannot speak for him because this is something he and I have never discussed. But I have no idea.

It's possible, too, that he hasn't watched it yet since he's a busy boy. To really enjoyed THE QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, you need to have an IQ the size of DR MBarnum's or be extremely drunk.

TCB - I'm climbing the walls again, trying to stay away.

I may just have to give in and check once an hour, because I am REALLY enjoying reading the comments, and even occasionally responding to the comments when I have something to say.

We're having lunch/dinner with my parents this afternoon, so that'll be four hours where I can't check the numbers unless I behave rudely. I'll be a basket case by the time those four hours are over.

Larry - IIRC, it was just a dismissive but decisive knock in his year-end round-up. And (as with Matthew Murray) it only bothers me because Darrel Karl is a talented writer himself and I normally enjoy his analyses; if I could dismiss him, it wouldn't bother me, but he's too bright to dismiss.
