When I got back from lunch today (Port of Subs), there was a package from Amazon.com waiting for me. In the package was the DVD to the recent "Chess In Concert" and the corresponding 2-CD set. Also included was the cast recording to Stephen Sondheim's Road Show and the very first CD of a group called JaLaLa, "That Old Mercer Magic! JaLaLa is a three-woman vocal group, made up of Janis Siegel (alto in The Manhattan Transfer), Laurel Massé (original soprano in The Manhattan Transfer) and Lauren Kinhan (I'd never heard of her before, but I found out that she is/was part of New York Voices). I'll listen to this CD as soon as I'm finished with "Cops and Robbers."

BK, since you're the Li'l Abner expert, I have a question (actually, anyone can answer, if they know). According to the editorial review/product description of "That Old Mercer Magic!, "Standout tracks are; Spring, Spring, Spring from the Tony Award winning Broadway musical Li'l Abner..." But that song title is not listed on either the Broadway cast recording or the movie soundtrack, nor is it in the Internet Broadway Database page for Li'l Abner. Is this really from Li'l Abner (maybe under a different title) or was it/could it have been written for a different show by Gene DePaul and Johnny Mercer and the reviewer got his/her facts mixed up?

DR MattH, actually I'm gonna change what i wrote above. Apparently Y&R (today's US Tues episode) was shown on the west coast. So CBS might show it sometime during the night.

So they won't be showing today's episode tomorrow (which i think they should have done). This was a key show, and a lot of people are gonna miss it. Although i guess people can watch it on cbs.com.

The funny thing about the "king of pop" (I always thought the king was Elvis, but what do I know) has this media frenzy funeral that is ridiculous - and yet real legends, real bona-fide legends like Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly or Alfred Hitchcock or any number of far greater people who had far greater impact on the business we call show - those people don't get this kind of treatment or coverage.
