MR BK will indeed reach his new Play Doh sometime today.

Excuse me. I think you meant "millstone."

Good morning!

Another hot, hot day for us here with temps in the 90s. May have some storms later today, but it doesn't look that way now.

I didn't have a good night, but I caught a 90 minute nap this morning which helped.

My work project today is the Blu-ray of MY COUSIN VINNY. Haven't seen the movie for a long time, so this will be a fun revisit. Luckily, there aren't many bonus features, so I should be able to get the entire disc done this afternoon.

We have a possibility of thunderstorms here tonight. Boy, I hope we get it. (Almost a "A Chorus Line" reference.)

DR Jose, no shoo-fly pie?

I had meant to ask you if this was the place? http://www.dutchhaven.com/

Alas, no Shoo-Fly Pie.

Well then, how about Apple Pan Dowdy?  Or is it Dowdie?

I was walking through the parking lot yesterday while wearing my "Murder At the Grove"  T-shirt.  Someone asked me what it was for, so I briefly told them.  I couldn't think of the name of the new book since I was thinking more about the fact that I was standing in the parking lot in 115 degree heat burning up, so all I could think of for the new book was "Trixie Belden and the Porn King."

I always liked CONCENTRATION.

I would liked to have been on the set of THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. Such an interesting mix of personalities

BTW, I meant to mention yesterday that on one of the bonus features on that ELVIS DVD I watched yesterday, it showed the coming attractions for the next week's ED SULLIVAN SHOW. Elvis, of course, was the main headliner. Also on the show was the cast of THE MOST HAPPY FELLA. The person who designed the graphic overlay spelled the actress' name "Joe Sullivan."

I would love to have been a contestant on TREASURE HUNT.

As for shows I would like to have been on the set of, for sure the PERRY MASON episode CASE OF THE BOGUS BOOK in which Allison Hayes was a guest star. I would like to have seen she and Raymond Burr interact.

DR Ben, I apologize for my going off the deep end yesterday about reality shows. I love you dearly and would not ever want to offend you.

However, I will say that I agreed with what DR Jennifer said, in that all "reality shows" or "competition shows" are not created equal...this genre covers such a wide variety of programming, pretty much any type of show that uses your average Joe or Jane, rather then paid actors, to entertain.

My buddy Mark, who moved back to Wyoming, sent this photo of his new dog, Klaus (he and his partner are breaking up and the ex is taking the two dogs that they got when they lived in Oregon).

Mark picked up Klaus in Denver yesterday.

the picture is blurry, but you get the idea.

TOD:

Totally would have LOVED being on the set of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer".  Would love to have appeared as a vampire whom Buffy staked!  LOL!

As for game show, I blush to admit it, but I think I'd have to say "Treasure Hunt" (with Jan Murray).  I loved that show and thought most of the contestants were idiots because they didn't seem to "get" it.  They had special shows with just kids playing...and they were often more interesting as players than the adults, and the prizes were a bit cooler (to my young mind at that time).

Michael, I accept your apology, although none is needed. I know you didn't mean to offend me in any way.

I just feel very strongly about the vile nature of many of the "contestants" who appear on, as I refer to them, the hard core reality programs.

I guess I need to distinguish between the different kinds of reality programming. I have no animosity toward things like Food Network's Next Great Star or whatever it's called or other shows that don't purposely demean and humiliate those that choose to participate. Getting a pie in the face on a game show (in the 50s or 60s) is not the same as sitting with sub-human cretins for 10 weeks in a locked house (or on a remote island) while everyone tries to outmaneuver each other. These people seem to have no respect for anything or anyone except "the game". Letting a man burn in a fire is indefensible. I will not ever watch a show like that and it saddens me that this kind of programming is so popular and respected.

And now I'll get off my soapbox.

Mikey, I think you're a wonderful man and you should know that none of this is directed at you. You have enough tormentors on this site, I won't add to the mix ;)

It is currently 62 degrees in downtown Oakland.

We expect a high in the mid-to-low 70s today.

Is anyone watching HGTV's "Design Star"?  I didn't know it was on, but caught this past Sunday's episode.  It's obviously early in the competition, but I got the feeling from some of Vern's comments that a couple of shows had already aired.

I love the judges -- in addition to Vern Yip there is Genevieve Gorder and the sensational Candice Olson.

A few of the contestants are wonderful!

MBarnum:   To answer your question from yesterday about "Big Brother 11", I am watching this season, but not as intensely as previous seasons.  I OD'd on Season 6....subscribed to the live feeds and spent hours watching the goings-on in the house.  I even took a day off when Kayser returned to the house to see what would happen.

No more.

I watch every Sunday and Thursday show for sure, but I record the Tuesday show and just skim through it.  By the time that show airs, I've already learned what they reveal courtesy of Dingo's Hamsterwatch.   The problem I have with that night and, for the most part, Sunday night is that CBS has gotten into an editing rut with the show.   Anyone following the daily goings-on soon learns that the shows that air between Thursday's live shows are out of sequence and "old news" to them.

Watch out for strange drivers.  I met my share of them on the road this morning.

Is it a full moon?
