And the word of the day is: FURBELOW!

Is it an old nautical term, as in:  "Watch out!  Fur Below!"

Thank you DRs for all the condolences messages.

In the News of the Weird category, another family member passed away on Monday (actually a cousin-in-law's brother) and both he and our secret-keeper will be laid out at the same funeral home tonight only. . .

The ear plugs were an enormous help (they had their own so I didn't have to use what I brought). The noise level was pretty much what I expected - no better or worse than I thought it'd be. Yes, it was a coffin-type MRI machine, but I was only put in up to my waist.

My MRI was more of a rectangle thing (the opening was not curved).  The sound was unbearable.

BK, at the risk of inviting the wrath of other Lost-ophiles, I'm completely with you on Daniel Faraday.  Betsy will concur I have been complaining about the actor and his speaking style from his first appearance.  I just want to slap him.  So sue me.

I was struggling with such sharp aching in my arm and trying to stay still that I think an atom bomb could have exploded outside, and I wouldn't have heard it. I was SO focused on not moving so I could get out of there and massage my aching arm.

I LOVE Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday, so there you are.

I think I'll head downstairs now and see if I can't clean the den. During this almost month-long excursion into pain, my cleaning routine has been completely disrupted. It'd be nice to clean the room where I spend the vast majority of my time each day.

Yeah, well, BK's vote counts for INFINITY so nyah, nyah, nyah.  ;)

Facebook strikes again department:  I have been hired for a writing assignment by a company based in Sweden, which got me to thinking of a wonderful exchange student we had when I was quite young (she was hosted by one of my sisters, who was then a senior in high school).  Eva was a typical gorgeous Swedish blonde, smoked (which was unheard of in those days for a 17 year old), and had been schooled for part of her life in GB, so she had this marvelous mix of a Swedish and English accent.  I just had a huge, huge crush on her.  So signing this writing contract got me to thinking about her, and I just checked on Facebook, and lo and behold, there she was!  So I've "Friended" her and sent her a message, hopefully she'll write back.

The super's 26 year-old grandson, Dragan Petrov, is my new hero. Within two hours we had the bookcases unloaded, and, because he is really really really strong, he had pushed the bookcases back against the wall and moved my CD shelves back to fit againt the no-longer-leaning shelves. When George comes in, all he needs to do is find the boards inside the walls, and bolt the shelves to them. I've got around eight cartons of things to send to Miami University next week and I am a very happy camper at the moment.  Of course I am living in chaos now, but I am happy the task is accomplished.

And is that why you and Betsy have separate computers?

Arnold M. Brockman, yes, got your order and a LOT of others, as well, which was a nice way to wake up.  CDs are supposedly arriving this morning.  The morning deliveries usually get here by nine-thirty.

And I'm up and it's overcast, and I cannot do the jog until CDs arrive, at which time I will do the jog, then pick up tapes, then package CDs, although I may reverse the order.

Wouldn't that mean you'd have to re-address all the packages?

I also found the sound unbearable, although i really cannot remember what type of ear plug device i had. But i am also claustrophobic. So to me i was struggling a lot with that. I think i had to be in for at least 30 minutes. ANd i was in the whole way.

I am sad there is no listing for Top Chef Las Vegas on Food Network (canada). Last season they showed it at the same time as Bravo. Maybe this season they are waiting for other shows to end and will show it in september. :(

I know here Project Runway season 6 only starts sept 12 (a saturday??).
