It's not quite officially official yet, but I can now announce that I've been hired to review classical music/opera (both BD and audio BD) for Blu-ray.com.  I'm very excited by this opportunity, though truth be told, will miss the variety I experienced at both DVDTalk and Matt's home, Home Theater Forum.  I've already submitted my resignation to HTF, DVDTalk is wanting me to stay on in the background to handle classic film and some t.v. series, but I need to clear that with Blu-ray.  The best part in terms of new toys is, because I'm an independent subcontractor for Blu-ray, I can write off a brand spanking new home theater system, so I'm excited to be able to upgrade to some great new components for my review room.  Right now I think I will be getting a Samsung 42" LCD, an Onkyo 7.1 surround system and the new slimline PS3 for a player.

Congrats to JMK on his new position!

(and that's NOT a euphemism. ;))

DR VIXTER -  I have nothing but hugs for you!  Thank the lord that you are alright and that your friend is alright.  As someone else said, keep writing down anything you remember, anything at all, and keep re-reading and rethinking.

I hope you hear from your friend soon, MBarnam. It's very upsetting to have friends disappear like that.

DITTO!

We once did that to friends during a sudden move.  When I reached one friend she said she was about to call my father & check up on us.

This situation with the Sept 1 reading of Life Begins At 8:40 is turning into open warfare and I fear and hope it gets no uglier than it currently is. At the present, I have no urge to make the trip to DC!

:(  Vibes things improve.

To bid at auction on these rare early Streisand tapes, you need only put $100,000.00 in escrow, for starters.   :P

Shelf number two is up - it's so NEAT out there now, with all the CD boxes where it's easy as pie to see them and all the shipping supplies in one easy to reach place.  Shelf three will get done today, then, when I get back from NY, we'll do the rest.

Once the rest are up, I will finally be able to get these stacks of DVDs out of the den and where I can actually see and get to them, same with about three hundred CDs and I'll also be able to take some books that have been boxed up since I moved here, and get them out of the boxes and onto shelves.

Everyone involved with the Life Begins reading just got an email from the major LoC person claiming that she had a long talk withe the conductor who told her about conversations he and I had involving errors in the piano parts.  Only we didn't have those discussions. I have the emails involving several problems but I haven't spoken to him since a meeting around August 12 when we rode the bus uptown together.

We did have a 70% chance of rain, but there's nothing to suggest it's going to happen based on the way it looks outside today - hot, hot, hot but with blue skies smilin' at me (an Irving Berlin reference).

Thanks to all who expressed good wishes for my condition. And I believe I'll try your suggestion tonight, DR Jane. At this point I'm willing to try most anything for a decent night's sleep.

Sounds like you'll be doing what you really love, DR JMK, at the new site, so I'm happy for you. And the new system sounds swell.

I Watched ROYAL PAINS while I ate lunch. One of the better recent episodes since Evan wasn't stalking a woman and both health cases were interesting.

Then I started on my work project: THE UNTOUCHABLES, Season 3, Volume 1. This show is loaded with guest star character actors.

In the first episode, two crime bosses are played by VIncent Gardenia and Ned Glass and Peter Falk is moving in to take over their territories.
