TOD

We didn't have any of the chains in Montreal until perhaps I was 10 years old. We did have A & W. I hate their hamburgers but loved the root beer.

I remember Harvey's but not sure when I first discover it. The claim to fame is that they will cook your hamburgers and you can choose your toppings.

Fudruckers was a favorite place of mine but the restaurant that was closest to me in Ft. Lauderdale closed a numbers of years ago and  has been empty ever since. I knew of one other in Coconute Grove and used to go there when I went to late lamented Coconut Grove Playhouse.

I didn't really answer the TOD

I don't remember when I had my first hamburger or hot dog outside the home. The hot dog may have been at the old Montreal forum watching a Canadians game.

But I insisted that ketchup was for hamburgers and mustard for hot dogs and one shouldn't use the garnish on the opposite food

When I finally ate a Tommy's I didn't understand what the big deal was.

Well, you were probably sober.

Did you eat at the original shack?

I think so.

More drama with a capital D - got a call from the pressing plant who told me there is a screwup, and she didn't know if it was on the master or the inlay card.  Well, something happened on the inlay between the time it was sent in and the time it was printed and some print got shifted that threw the track titles off by one and it looks horrible, so I've stopped the run and the inlay is being reprinted now and will go to the pressing plant tomorrow by noon, so now I won't have CDs until Wednesday, probably in the late afternoon, and that is VERY problematic, as I have an all-day casting session on Thursday that will preclude me from doing ANY shipping that day, so if they don't go out on Wednesday, they don't go out till Friday, and it's Labor Day weekend, which means they won't actually start getting places until Tuesday or Wednesday.  We're still early by two or three weeks, so that's not the issue, but I'm really annoyed right now, as I like my schedule to be precise and exact.

But I insisted that ketchup was for hamburgers and mustard for hot dogs and one shouldn't use the garnish on the opposite food

At the Naval Academy the traditional condiment for either burgers or dogs was a concoction made at the table by a plebe (Fourth Class Midshipman). You placed equal amounts of mustard and ketchup in a bowl and then laced it with copious quantities of black papper - and then you had GOO.

The master of our kitchens was one CDR Louie LaForge, Naval Supply Corps.
In the Fall of 1960 when we returned for our final year, we found on each and every dining table (and there were nearly 300 of them) peanut butter-sized jars of "stuff" proudly labelled "Mama LaForge's Gourmet Goo".

der Brucer

This was the same CDR LaForge that solved the Academy dairy's crises of excess cream by producing large bowls of freshly made ice-cream on the breakfast table each morning - oh boy - Vanilla Ice cream on your corn flakes and strawberries!

I'm really annoyed right now, as I like my schedule to be precise and exact.

Think of it this way - you wisely planned extra time to accommodate unforseen events (that so often happen), so now when the discs go out on the published schedule you can be pleased with your thoughtful planning.

Hey, Mr. Barnum, I don't think there will be pictures of the new chairs anytime soon. We have camera troubles as well. Anthony's 10 year old digital is giving up the ghost. We haven't gotten a new one yet so until that happens no chair pictures.

Couldn't you find the manufacturer on line and find pcitures of the chairs?

Good Idea. I will do just that but we won't be sitting in the chairs.

Thanks, DR td!!!!!   Isn't that funny.... there is a Fuddrucker's in the little nothing of a town in Northern NJ that my mother lives in now.

We'll have to make a point of going there the next time I go to visit her!

Which little nothing of a town does your mother live in, since there 8 towns listed?

When we first moved to Olympia in 1976, there was a place called Norm's Drive-In and all it was was a burger stand and a gravel parking lot.  There were a couple of picnic tables and that's it.  It was also in an areal that had almost no other businesses around.  Anyway, they had the absolute best burgers ever!  The area started to be developed and eventually they disappeared.  Several years ago, a place called Norma's (mentioned above) opened pretty close to where my parents live.  It has indoor seating, but otherwise seemed VERY similar to what Norm's used to be like...and the kinds of burgers that they offered.  I REALLY like Norma's, but I don't go there as often as I'd like because most times that I go to my parents' house, it's for dinner.

I've been wondering if reading HHW can be hazardous to one's health. ;D

There are quite a few of us who are under the weather.

The pain is better having rested the past two days.

It was tolerable, but around 1pm it was very hard to get around and pain meds were not helping. I left early and went to my doctor's appointment.

I will see him again on Friday and hope there is improvement, I just might work half days if the pain increases during the day.

You may be onto something here, DR Michael Shayne.  I've considered this possiblity for some time.  I'd ponder it some more, but it makes my neck hurt...and there's a twitch in my shoulder...and....

Here is the Hibiscus chair from Pier One.

We have two of them and the couch is now gone. We have more room, having also taken away an end table. It looks very nice and comfy.
