I had some time to watch the first 10 minutes or so of SHOW BOAT in HD (the 1936 version). I doubt this is a high definition encode but rather is the SD version upconverted. Just didn't have quite the sharpness real HD usually has. Still, nice to have, but I can't keep it on there for very long. Lots of stuff to record tonight, and I'll have to watch GREY'S ANATOMY live due to the glut of new programming tonight.

A propos of yesterday's notes' title, did anyone catch that hilarious new Brad Garrett commercial last night, with him singing, yep, "Windy"?

DR JMK - It's easy:  If they want to sing a solo, all they have to do is provide you with the printed sheet music.       :)

Thanks!  That's on at 8:00 on the hi-def channel and 11:00 on the standard channel. :)

Hoping you find this linked YouTube video entertaining. Please pass the link on to any Food Network fans if you do.

It's to the tune of "So Much Better" from Legally Blonde, and it's called "So Much Butter" -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZnWq9Vi1ww

The "butter" aspect is about the "friction" between Paula Deen and Barbara Walters, when Paula Deen was on THE VIEW several weeks back, and Barbara Walters made some surprising comments about Paula Deen contributing to childhood obesity.

Jose, I know we were saying the other night over dessert that the event itself on THE VIEW really wasn't much of anything - but searching on google seems to show that it really did get blown up in the innernet press, so it seems very ripe for making fun of it WITHOUT (I hope) anyone really taking offense.

Hope my take on it  makes you laugh if you have time to watch.

Very funny!

I am having computer issues.  My computer was slow and when i rebooted, well now it will not start (load Windows).  I tried everything in my extremely limited know-how.

Maybe I will see if my brother-in-law can look at it this weekend. it's probably something very simple. And not knowing what to do is making me feel very inept!

~~~Computer Vibes for Jennifer!!~~~
Not really an Ask BK, more of a suggestion to BK:  I think I mentioned this a few days when I was in the midst of reviewing THE PRISONER, but pull out that 5th bonus disc, the SD-DVD, and listen to the completely different themes written by the different composers (one of them Robert Farnon, which I still find rather unbelievable).  Farnon's theme is quasi-Elmer Bernstein in Magnificent Seven mode (Ionian, LOL).
Ooooh, Mr Farnon's one of my favourite music composers who deserves better recognition, I think.
He did conduct for a certain number of famous pipers, one being the one and only Eileen Farrell, to whom he even dedicated a melody.
AND Angela Morley, another pet of mine, was one of his "pupils".
Oh--I wasn't sure exactly to what you were referring.  I finally figured the tune out.  I'm not sure this particular "artiste" even has published sheet music.  :)  Plus, the young woman who wants to do it is a professional chef and has promised me some sort of chocolate extravaganza as my personal prize.  ;)
The term "Dopp kit" derives from early 20th century leather craftsman Charles Doppelt, a German immigrant to the United States, who invented his toiletry case in 1919.
I just had to share.      :)
My dad always calls his "toiletry case" a Dopp Kit. I always wondered why, now I know....
Cute. :D
What an thrill it must be, BK, to have become friends with Bert I. Gordon.  I know how honored I felt getting to know his daughter, Susan, if only slightly.  I really miss having Susan on this board.  I hope she is well.
Pride Festival this weekend in Atlanta. Along with Halloween, it should be a very festive weekend!
Is there a convenient way to discern who belongs to which festivity?
