Good Afternoon!

And I have to get ready to head out for the afternoon. I'm playing for a, hopefully, brief work session this afternoon.  -Oh, I'm also seeing Il Trittico at the The Met tonight.

Watch for Joshua Saul Bain's name in the ensemble at the Met.....not sure when he starts, but he signed his contract last summer.

He's not listed on the "Artist Roster" for this season, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.  However, since casting is usually in place one, if not two seasons in advance, he may not be "in rotation" until the 2010-11 Season.

Finally a little good news--La Manse has two above ground oil tanks, and we knew from experience to investigate whether there had been underground oil tanks at one point which had leaked.  Oregon law requires that they be remediated and decommissioned to DEQ standards.  Well I called Washington County last week and got the disturbing news that they had a file on the house, but nothing in it.  The supervisor said that generally happens when an owner discovers an underground tank leaking but never follows through to have it remediated.  She said a remediation company had at least done a site survey because she had the name of it in her file.  So I called last week, and they said they'd look into it.  I hadn't heard back from them, so I called again yesterday.  Well, lo and behold, the owner just called me, completely embarrassed and chagrined.  It turns out his company had completed all the decommissioning and remediation work in 2004, but the day after they finished, he left on his honeymoon, and they had forgotten to submit the reports for final certification to DEQ!  Because of their screwup, he said they are assuming all additional costs to get the site fully certified as meeting DEQ standards.  It could have been a $30,000 expense to clean up (15K per tank), so I'm really happy for this brief moment in time.  ;)

How could I forget Red River, a marvelous Wayne film that also has incredible performances by Montgomery Clift, Walter Brennan, and a host of great character people.

As to El Dorado, I know it's an imitation of Rio Bravo, and I don't think I've enjoyed it so much in the past, but last night I just got sucked in, part of that being because of the Wayne/Mitchum interplay, and part because of Caan vs. Ricky Nelson.  Arthur Hunnicut in the Walter Brennan role was also very good.  And the Nelson Riddle score is great.

Learned fact from FLIGHTS OF FANTASY - Jack Larson and Allison Hayes both were clients of Jack Pomeroy.  So now when MR BK sees Mr Larson, he can ask him about Allison.  I am sure they were bosom buddies.

Un-American

I've been called worse...         :)

Nothing could be worse than a person who has never seen a John Wayne movie.

Correction!

A person who has never seen a Humphrey Bogart movie would be worse.

 ;)
