*The Opening Number also provided some of the biggest laughs of the afternoon - along with the customary not-so-nice digs at various people in and out of the industry.  One of the "best" jokes was in a sequence where "Cat Deeley" was calling out the names of various choreographers, and then the dancers would then dance in that style for a couple of counts...

"Jerome Robbins"... West Side Story
"Bob Fosse"... Sweet Charity
"Michael Bennett"... A Chorus Line
"Rob Ashford"... Thoroughly Modern Millie
"Jerry Mitchell"... Hairspray
"Tyce Diorio".... No! No! NO! NO!

-The cheering was deafening!!! :D

The Vixter though that Elektra was ok - the music and singing were good but she had trouble with some of the staging and with some of the actors' performances

She was particulary annoyed by the fact that when Elektra was dragged off stage to be whipped the person with the whip who supposedly was to do the deed dawdeled so long at getting off stage that the beating  was over before she had exited the stage - "Way to take me out of the moment , dude"

She also thought that Elecktra's death left a lot to be desired - "She just took her time and slowly stretched out and lay down like to she was getting comfortable for a nap - nice death scene  - duh!"

The Vixter is a bit of a fanatic on Greek mythology - she has been reading about it since she was 6.  Apparently the teacher began aquainting thr class with the story line in preparation for the trip and the Vixter kept correcting her and filling in the backstory until the teacher finally conceded that Vix had much more knowledge on this particular story that she did and let Vix take over the class -  Vixter now has  a new nickname - Greekapedia

OH! They went to the final dress today!  Very cool!!

*And, actually, DR the vixter's "review" seems to jive with what I heard from some friends who also went this morning.  -Of course, that means that The Times will love it. ;)

Well, I think I shall wander up to bed.  I have a feeling I will be going to work in the morning for a short time.  Actually I'm hoping to be home by noon so I can roast the whole chicken I bought at the store yesterday and make a nice big meal that will give me left overs for awhile.

DR vixmom - I know that is a lot of money, and the timing of the expense is probably not the best, but...

When was the last time you had any major work done on the car?  If you break it down month-by-month, it's probably not that bad.  I still remember going into "shock" whenever I had to have to some work down on my still-missed and beloved 1993 Escort Wagon.  However, besides the routine oil changes and tires, I only "invested" about $3000 over the 16-year lifespan of the car.  Not bad at all.  -But, yes, those $700-900 repairs were always a bit ouch-y.

*And, remember, your Christmas bonus from work is bound to cover the cost of the car repairs with plenty of money left over for presents. :)

I am back from the sessions for what will be a very wonderful recording of the score. It is certainly the most music ever recrded from the score and I think pur mighty cast will be wonderful. It was an exhausting day so I will not catch up on posts till tomorrow.

Good night, all!

Glad to hear you had a great day in the recording studio! I look forward to the details.

Trying to get that basket away from Toby and Dylan was a chore.  They though FTD stood for "For Toby & Dylan."

Thanks DR DAW.....love Beeker!  And I hadn't seen that before!

DR JRand - Did you catch the Muppets during Blake Lively's opening monologue from this past weekend's "SNL"? The Swedish Chef and Beeker make an appearance. :)

Still watching Julie and Julia.  I'm thinking Meryl Streep would now make a perfect Minnie Kritzer.
