TMZ is reporting that Brittany Murphy has died.

And some of the other news services are starting to break and confirm the news.  Very sad. She was only 32.

In other news...

For the past couple of hours, I've been sucked into and enjoying "The Sing-Off" marathon on Oxygen.  I had read some of the blurbs about the show, and I'm glad I tuned in today.  -I'm really digging Ben Folds' critiques and words of encouragement.  He's even blogged about his experience as a judge on his WEBSITE.

If Simon leaves Idol he'd be a good replacement.

Ooohh... This looks interesting.... And the sound clips sound great too!

Ben Folds Present University A Cappella

Quote

...
“Music education has been atrophying,” Ben Folds says. “And yet, at any given school, any number of a cappella groups are getting together a few times a week to rehearse and perform. What’s more is they’re really good.” An idea was born. “If there are thousands of a cappella groups out there,” Ben says, “it must be amazing to sing in them. I wanted to capture that magic.” And so Ben Folds—one part Jane Goodall, two parts Ahmet Ertegun—set out to recruit and record these university a cappella groups. You hold the result in your hands.

If it is a gift for a Secret Santa; how will you know who to give it to?

Continues to be a beautiful day here, and it warmed up considerably this afternoon. Felt like low 50s outside, but it might not have been that warm. Still, lovely.

I began my afternoon viewing with two episodes of THE MENTALIST. The first was the one about the witch who cast a spell on a child who later was killed. Naturally, she's the chief suspect, but Patrick is sure she's innocent and being set up. Good episode, and I remember being completely fooled by the identity of the killer.

The second episode was one of the lesser ones of the season, the one about the art forgery and Patrick going into the home of a Russian mobster and stealing the real painting (or the one everyone suspected was real).

i don't understand why the very young children received exams without a parent present.

If I was Woody, I would just pat him on the shoudler sometime when they are not around others, and just tell him that if he ever feels like talking, that Woody is a good listener. Normalcy is fine, but knowing there is someone available to listen, who is non-judgemental, is really a comfort.

Or that the parents didn't notice something OFF when the kids came back from getting their "treat"?  If the kids were screaming when he did the videos why would it have stopped when they were returned to their parents?

Then I watched THE HANGOVER on Blu-ray. Nutty, farcical, completely enjoyable film. Bradley Cooper is to die for, Ed Helms is a riot, Justin Bartha (from the NATIONAL TREASURE movies) is precious but not in nearly enough of the film.

Scary shots: a couple of stills of Wayne Newton in Vegas which are part of the photographic evidence of their wild night shown at the end of the movie. Forget about any movie monsters. What Wayne Newton has done to himself to stay "young" is the most frightening argument against plastic surgery possible.

I ended my afternoon watching the CASTLE rerun from last night. Taking place during NY Fashion Week, Julian Sands was a fashion designer suspecting of killing his top model. Very good mystery.

My daughter's reaction as well! "Moron Parents!"

It seems the assualts actually took place post-exam when the Dr. took the girls to a separate "play room" for a post-exam treat.

I find it especially sad that young parents can not even trust their own Pedicatrian to treat their children kindly.
