I've been really stressed out lately.  I'm hoping getting out of town will be good for me and I won't be more stressed because I'm not here doing what needs to be done, lol

There were some interesting names on the SOUTH PACIFIC casting suggestion list - and who knows where it originated?  Or how along in the process the film was.....I would guess at first EVERYONE'S name is on it.

Doris Day is listed first as Nellie with Mitzi Gaynor first.

Joshua Logan's son - in the documentary - says that Josh was at a Hollywood party and Doris was asked to get up and sing - she was asked several times - and she adamantly refused.  Son Of Josh says that after that, his father would never consider Doris for the role.

I am waiting for the judge to call for my 10:30 am hearing. Yes, it's already 11:52 AM, but this is how it goes with immigration court.

Anyway, it appears the storm is still coming but is a bit behind schedule, so I should have no problem leaving this afternoon.  I'm hoping to get out of town by 2:00 or 2:30, so it would be really nice if the judge called soon

Ah yes.  The life of a lawyer.  Hurry up and wait.

I am almost finished wrapping Christmas gifts.

My mom asked me to wrap all of hers too. She left one of my presents in the pile. Am i supposed to wrap my own gift? :)

I picked it, so i know it's for me. Maybe i will wrap it, so i have something nice to open. Even though i don't celebrate Christmas, my niece does. And my aunt and uncle do. So we go there to open presents on Christmas eve.

My niece really lucked out this year. Since she is half Jewish she got presents each night for chanukah and now she gets a few presents for Christmas!

DR Jrand, re: your ebay person.

I think the fact that he didn't respond to your other emails is the biggest problem. What he explained sounded perfectly plausible.  And those things happen. But he should have informed you right away.

I think I may try to go to the postal office to drop off two packages, even though I know it will be absolute madness in the parking lot.  Maybe I'll see if I can find street parking.

DR Jane - so pleased that your progress continues, even if you don't feel it yet!          :)

thank you.  i do feel it, just not fast enough of course.  part of my urgency is the longer it takes, the less range of motion that will return.  the therapist said i can't go any faster than i am.

Hello, everyone.

It is a GORGEOUS day here--clear skies, but crisp. Dear Doggie and I only went half as far on our walk today because it was so windy.

The birds are all over my balcony because I put fresh bird seed out this morning.

I'm going into shock: I'm actially ahead of schedule in gifts, and I'm usually wandering around about now in utter desperation, I need to pick up a gift certificate from Barnes & Noble and do cards and cash for my postman and my super.

On the down side, I'm about to go into major financial angst lasting through January 15 when the estimated tax payment is due. After that I will be fine until April. The trick is getting through the next three weeks as gracefully as possible. If it's done with the same grace as my ageing, I am in serious trouble. So, if anyone's thinking of sending me something lovely, food would be good.

DR elmore you are so giving and generous, but.........have you consider being less generous until you have a better nest egg to hold you through your difficult stretches?  i hate suggesting such a thing as i know the great joy you receive from giving, & the fun you have with your special talent for finding the perfect gifts.

TOD:

I saw a number of films in theatres this year--few memorable.

CLOUD 9--a German film memorable because it was so dark. IMHO, this film could have been light and sweet and charming, but instead it was very dark and depressing.

COCO BEFORE CHANEL--liked the film, loved Audrey Tatou's performance.

I saw others, they don't even come to mind!

Jane, remember that your body has much work to do to heal your shoulder. The body always does the best it can. Try to be supportive of it.

I find that breaking down the healing process in my mind so that I can see smaller steps is a help. It's not just HERE vs TOTAL RECOVERY; there are many steps along the way. I hope you are able to soon see progress.

even if i don't sound it i think i'm very patient, calm & brave..... considering.  i also know it could be much worse and what i'm going through is nothing compared to what DR vixmom dealt with.

so true, it is when i look to far in the future i get scared.  i try and stay with the small steps.  i think being told there won't be full recovery is difficult.  i'm not sure if this is good or bad, in my heart i refuse to believe it.
