And now for something completely different...today's date is a palindrome:

01/11/10

Just had to share. :)

All the networks have new offerings tonight except for the CW, and fans of FRINGE are reminded that there is a new episode on tonight at 9 p.m.

Other reminders:

CHUCK back into its regular Monday at 8 timeslot. (I haven't watched last night's shows yet.)

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER's 100th episode. I haven't watched the show in several years, but I've got the DVR set to record it because there is a musical number at the end of the show that features Neil Patrick Harris.

A new CASTLE tonight.

And the new cycle of "The Bachelor" starts tonight...

I have to say, I find the promos for this new cycle to be quite annoying and, in a sense, condescending and insulting. The whole 1970's "friendly skies" tone - the new Bachelor is a pilot - seems too silly even to me.

I think you're wrong about that. It started last week, I believe.

Roger Corman made an interesting Peter Fonda movie even FURTHER back called THE TRIP.

That was the one I assumed he was referring to.

Last night I watched PLAZA SUITE on TCM--it's one of my favorite Neil Simon pics (would love a soundtrack--HINT!)

I love the play, and I like the movie, but I think it was a mistake to use Walter Matthau in all three playlets without using the same actress in all three as well.

I think he was best in the third one (which still makes me fall down laughing).

I think the movie would have been better if Matthau had been used in #3 and other actors used in the other two.

Lunch ran very late, but I did have time to watch last night's BROTHERS & SISTERS. I got SUPER irritated with the perky Kevin this week, but the show did give some explanation for Justin's studying without success and Nora being on top of her potential love life without her children running interference for her.

Another love interest for Sarah.

When I got in, I went ahead and started THE SIMPSONS. I got 5 episodes watched.

The first 9 in the set were not produced in high definition, so they're upconverted. They look pretty good with just some banding artifacts to betray they aren't HD.

And couple of things had me really laughing out loud. They did a take-off of the MAD MEN main credits, and it was hysterical.

There was also an entire episode that was an homage to TWO FOR THE ROAD. I suspect very few people who ever saw that episode knew it was aping a movie from 1967.

Then I had time to skim through today's OLTL and ATWT. Nothing of interest on either one, and nothing in the ATWT previews either.

I was very happy to read about GLEE's second season pick-up. I think this is the first announced renewal of a first season show for a new season thus far this year. I'm thrilled there will be more episodes.

Of course, I'm eager to see the remaining nine episodes for THIS season, but they're still in production and won't get shown until April.

Now I'm going to hop off-line and do some writing. Then, it's back downstairs for more SIMPSONS.

re: CHUCK (no spoilers)

I'll be curious if anyone else watching found the beginning slightly confusing. Not enough of a recap of last season for me, and the jumps in time were not clear enough to me.

I had to rewatch the first few minutes at the beginning of the second hour, but otherwise, I didn't have a problem following...but then of course, I was on the computer, so it was probably that I really didn't care that I didn't actually catch everything.

;)

I have finally had some uninterrupted writing time today and have done eight or so pages - I'm having way too much fun in the current section I'm in, which has to do with Merv Griffin.

Last night DR Jane wrote:

Is your niece going to private kindergarten or do your public schools offer options?

I don't think they are positive where she is going yet. Because where she was supposed to go is closing.

She will definitely be going to public school. And she does have options.  Where she will probably be going is an English school, but where they do intensive french in kindergarten.

i should have clarified if your public school is like ours (free) or as in england(you pay).

Yes it's free. Although if you want to go to the daycare (before school, at lunch and after school) you have to pay.
