SR.....DR DtM - although Junior took a turn on the drums and Lucie Arnaz was also involved.

Lucie Arnaz is always involved one way or another...

Today I got the oil changed for $340. It included a free battery and a free windshield fluid tank, plus installation.

These are things that have lasted a long long time. And I live in the desert, so it has to be done.

I am wondering how DR MBARNUM is getting along trying to stuff Mamie Van Doren into a mailbox.

DR MattH, I just read your comments about CHUCK.

I know you've always hated the BUYMORE stuff. I sort of like it some of the time. It can get stupid. But i think the show is trying to be a spy comedy. It sounds like you wish it was a spy drama, which i don't think it will ever be.  Chuck is always gonna be Chuck.  And there will always be some type of issues with Chuck and Sara.

No, the comedy is OK. What I find is that IT'S REPETITIVE. Chuck has been flashing for three years now and has been in front of murderous bad guys for years. There should be SOME signs of growth in him as a person and as an agent.

Instead, the writers rehash the basic story over and over, and I'm just tired of it. It tickled me for a season and a half, but I've tired of the formula, and they had the wherewithall to make some changes, and they didn't.

The show's Sunday ratings were on the high end for the show (higher than its season average last year. The ratings for last night's show haven't come out yet.) I'll be interested to see how it did in its Monday slot.

It will be interesting to see if you think chuck has progressed after you watch last night's show.

I'll be watching it tonight. We'll see.

Yay! Tuc Watkins is back on ONE LIFE TO LIFE. That will raise the humor quotient.

I read that they did not kill his character off on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES either, so he still can make appearances on both shows.

I watched last night's CASTLE while I ate lunch. Very enjoyable outing, and glad to see Beckett facing her feelings (just a bit) about CASTLE. It's obvious his feelings toward her are strong.

Good mystery, too. I solved it before the revelation, but there were just lots of great lines, especially among the two detectives who assist Beckett and Castle.

I got all eight remaining SIMPSONS episodes watched. I especially enjoyed a four part segment where Marge is relating stories about strong women, and then they do mini-parodies of SNOW WHITE, MACBETH, and others.

I only had time to skim through today's ATWT so far. Nothing of interest and nothing in the previews. I'll go through OLTL when I go back downstairs.

Good morning, all! I have the McGlinnventory this morning followed by an afternoon of work here. Yesterday's meeting at Toyland was necessary and very invigorating. It was nice to see several good folk and to hear two others over the telephone, and I think it got us all revved up to accomplishing some good work for the next months. I've lost my trusty sidekick on BABES IN TOYLAND Vol. 1 and most of THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER, Tom Murray, who's gone on to be the Music Director of the LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC revival but i've acquired an equally fabulous replacement, the wonderful composer and musician Skip Kennon, who'll help me get through BABES IN TOYLAND Vol. 2 and the remainder of THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER.

Congrats to Elmore AND Skip!!

Some TV tidbits:

ABC has renewed MODERN FAMILY, COUGAR TOWN, and THE MIDDLE for next season, the network's first pickups for next season (from among its new shows).

CHUCK's ratings last night were virtually unchanged from Sunday night's scores, on the high end for the series for the past year (though it still ranked only fourth in the timeslot following HOUSE, THE BACHELOR, and CBS' comedies). Still, it was NBC's highest rated show of the night especially outpacing HEROES and JAY LENO.

Back from lunch with Cason.  We got a lot done - no addressing or anything, that happens next Monday, but we had a lot of stuff to go over and got all that done.  Of course, I have not written one word, so I will now clear my head and take no calls and look at no e-mails for the next two hours or so.

Tabatha's Salon Makeover is most interesting.....although it could just be because two of my sisters were stylists at one time...and I took a semester of classes though never got a certificate.....

ANYWAY.....Tabatha Coffey is my favorite type of reality star....a professional at SOMETHING....and there is a point to the show.  She is not famous because she is ON tv.....she goes into these hair salons where people deserve to have clean, professional, knowledgeable people working on them.....and tells them where they are going wrong....and a lot of them are delusional.  The classless women from the Oyster Bay NY salon are perfect examples.....

I know her from whatever hair show she originally competed on (was it the one with Jaclyn Smith as the host?).

I do like Tabatha (she is very spunky). But for some reason I didn't love her show the times i've seen it.

I'm going to hop off-line and finish writing up THE SIMPSONS, and then it'll be back downstairs to see last night's CHUCK and some other fun viewing.

I have a question for those who know from professional singers:

Have there been any contestants on American Idol who have won (or come close to winning) who are singing correctly and would have had a shot at a professional career (without the publicity of Idol)?

IMO there are contestants on American Idol who could have had shots at careers without Idol. However, I think becoming a famous singer isn't necessarily only about talent. And in that respect, Idol lets people know the singers. So they get that exposure.

I don't know that any contestant would be as popular without Idol. But i don't think people can say that Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, adam lambert... can't sing. They can sing.

Melinda Dolittle was AMAZING.  She's by far the best pure singer the show has ever seen.  IMO, of course.

My favorite vegetable is the lowly potato or potatoe, if you prefer.  The potatoes can be scalloped, au gratin, lyonnaise, mashed, fried, French fried, etc., etc.

Ditto...all of the above. :)
