Good morning!

It's been raining since I got up and is supposed to continue to rain all day and not get out of the 30s. Argh! But at least the "wintery mix" they forecast isn't happening for us. We're just getting rain.

I would rather eat ground glass than sit through a Super Bowl game.

Sorry, I just find football and the attendant worship of a stupid f*****g game played with a leather ball to be all out of proportion to reality.

My work project today is the Blu-ray of WALK THE LINE. Looking forward to seeing it again after years away from it and in glorious HD. The music should also sound wonderful in lossless audio.

Speaking of soaps, I believe Luke is on ATWT today so that will add two more shows to my growing list of things to watch. Wow! Go to the theater for one night, and I get FAR, FAR behind on my viewing.

I think I forgot to mention watching NCIS: LA yesterday. The young black agent (who hadn't made much of an impression) was written out of the show last week, and this week they're already talking about replacing a character they really don't need. Both main stars split investigative work. They have a less experienced female agent, an IT guy, and an in-house shrink along with the head of the agency, so the cast should be set. They just don't need another junior agent who has little to do.

Last night I finally got to watch PINKY which I recorded from TCM the other night.  I found it a trifle slow-going--Jeanne Crain doesn't exactly light up the screen for me.

I had to LOL at a story Robert Osbourne told about how imperious Ethel Barrymore was towards director Elia Kazan.  When Kazan told Barrymore that he wanted to do another take of a scene, she said "Why?  What do you want it for? Your collection?"

Jeanne Crain was lovely  but not a compelling actress even in films she received good reviews or, in this case, an Oscar-nomination for.

I'm heading down now so I can fit in a couple of shows before I have to start on today's work project. Lunch will be tossed in there somewhere, too.

Thanks, JOSE and VIXMOM, but, yes, I had already checked out Handbell World.  As I mentioned, this particular stand is 30" wide.  It's made for our big bell table.  Plus the ones we have don't have the wire running on the back.  The skirts for the table have velcro pockets into which aluminum poles (for wont of a better word) stick up and the stand fits on those.  Unfortunately no one at the church seems to remember from whom we got the original equipment, so I'm going to have keep researching.  Or simply buy new bell tables, LOL (not a bad thing--these are about 25 years old and are more than a bit wonky).

Friday morning greetings!  Our SNOWPOCALYPSE is taking longer to materialize than they were predicting last night, but when The Weather Channel opens a segment talking about Cincinnati - we're in for it!

In kind of nice, though not unexpected, news, because my church payroll check is cut by a Board member who happens to be a CPA, it doesn't look like an "official" pay stub, so my credit union loan guy thought it would be prudent to get a verification of employment from them, which I did last night.  Under the field labelled "prospects for continued employment" they put "Excellent!"  So at least I have a job for a little while.  ;)

I also just saw that I made a typo in my original posting about the Superbowl. I didn't catch it until this go round. I think I will leave and see if anyone else notices it.

I was so appalled by that CAMELOT that was on PBS a year or so ago, that I can't even think about the show anymore.  Hopefully MR BK's Mordred was not a gay leather queen.....

I loved Mordred. He was the best part of the show.

TOD:

DVD: Episodes of the early 50s tv series THE GOLDBERGS which was based on the radio show of the same name.

DVR: If I get to it, I will watch THE UNINVITED. I also have a couple of episodes of THE VIRGINIAN to view.

CD: Soundtrack to the Bollywood movie GADAR. Hated the movie, but love the soundtrack.

I watched "The Uninvited" yesterday evening and recorded it onto DVD-R as a I watched.

It has been YEARS since I last saw it and I had forgotten how large a part Gail Russell played in it.  It's quite a fun film for me to watch.

And Cornelia Otis Skinner was QUITE the Sapphic nightmare as Miss Holloway.   How FUN was she!!??!!

I must confess I love it most of all for the terrific Victor Young score...particularly that main theme.  At times, it seems at odds with what is being portrayed on screen.  For its time (1944), it certainly wasn't the "typical" ghost story/mystery score.

BK, I highly recommend you try either the SERGIO MENDES or ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM "channels" on Pandora.  You will be delighted by the bossa nova playlist.
