I heard the UPS truck pull up on the side street next to my house, but the UPS man took the package to my neighbor's house. I wasn't expecting anything, so I was surprised to see the truck, but sometimes he parks there instead of in front of my neighbor's house when he has a package for him.

Looks like my dreams of a day or two off later in the week are still possible.

My UPS guy just came but parked a few doors down. He always drops the package on the porch, bangs on the door and runs away, like he's pulling a prank or something. Or maybe he's just being nice and letting me know he left something, since there have been a rash of thefts of packages from porches lately. (The latest being a mother and son who follow the truck. Nice role model!)

Because I am a masochist, I have been perusing DR Jose's hot chocolate photos in Facebook. Makes me yearn to return to NY!

Day Off vibes for DR MATTH.

Thanks for the vibes. So far, no new deliveries, so after I finish ANDROCLES tonight and HOWARDS END tomorrow, I may indeed have the rest of the week off. I really am not expecting anything work-oriented, but I've been fooled before, and I've also been asked to take something I wasn't expecting because someone passed on it. So, we'll see.

Our friend in Marietta, Rachel, has for many years made homemade fudge at Christmas. There was such a demand that she started selling it and is experimenting with different flavors. In addition to her usual yummy standby, she's trying dark chocolate and cherries, caramel and chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate, and white chocolate with cranberries.

Rachel is a beautiful southern gal from N.C. and is looking for a name for her new business. So I thought I'd do a brain tap at HHW for flavor suggestions and business names. (She had been calling them Dixieland Sweets but is looking for something "classier".)

For anyone who comes up with a name she uses, I (or Rachel) will send you a box of her signature chocolate fudge. Yum!

I watched last night's excellent episode of DAMAGES while I ate lunch. I think the series is better this season than last (which was also very good). It's very compelling this year.

I don't suppose one would sell much fudge with a name like "Drool," would one?

Then I settled in with this afternoon's work project - CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA. The actors are wonderful, but it's something of a slog and always has been. You can tell they overspent on those gorgeous, elaborate sets and costumes and stars, but again Pascal's direction isn't very interesting (and he didn't have David lean to help him here as he did on MAJOR BARBARA). But look at the names of the cinematographers: a who's who of great color photography including Freddie Young and Jack Cardiff.

It may be something of a stiff, but it's a beautiful stiff. Sadly, only the last two reels really have that gorgeous depth of color reminiscent of Technicolor. The rest is sort of overly light and aside from the reds which are always bright, kind of pale looking.

When I was done with it, I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing whatsoever of interest and nothing in the previews.

Then I skimmed through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Yep, cuddly Fish was there holding his child (unconfirmed by him but we all know it's his), but the rest of the stuff was lame. Nice to see Tuc Watkins for a brief scene.

Then I watched the CASTLE rerun from last night. This is one of the best mysteries of the season, and it completely stumped me the first time around. Took me quite a while into the show before I remembered how the denouement worked out. Superb episode.

TV tidbits:

The CW renews 'Top Model,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Supernatural,' 'Gossip Girl,' '90210' which I'm sure will make DR Jennifer happy.

These are early renewals which doesn't mean that SMALLVILLE or MELROSE PLACE are canceled. No decision on them has yet been made.

I'm baaaaaack! I got home about an hour ago, and I've had to unpack, fetch the mail, turn on the computer, check emails, and here I am. The  drve back got very snowy, with lots of slush from trucks being thrown at the windshield, and outside New Haven, CT, the highway became congested with a lot of snow and heavy traffic. The GPS told us to get off the highway and rerouted us When we got back on the highway, there was a really treacherous span and we nearly slid into another car, which terrified us both. After that, everything went fine until we hit the Bronx and the snow started coming down heavily. I left Joseph at the car rental, got a cab and here I am.

Thank you all for gthe vibes. Now I've got two days to finish up Equity Fights Aids!

Now I must hop off-line and get to some writing. Then, I'll head back down to finish up the SHAW ON FILM box with ANDROCLES.
