I'm up and she of the Evil Eye is here.  I have just responded to about five panic e-mails from the long musical team.  None of them really understand musical theater (although two of them should) and how this process works.  There is now talk of postponing the staged reading and I'm walking away if that happens.  The book writer blames the composer/lyricist, they blame him, it's just so typical.  I've told them all, sorry, we are cast and going ahead and that this is our FIRST reading and no one is expecting a perfect show - it's in development and the sole purpose of the reading is to raise some seed money to continue working and to get us to a workshop, where we will really have the time to do work which needs to be done in that process.  If there are two or three weak songs, tough.  I saw Wicked's first staged reading - terrible, and half the songs got changed.  That's the process - the process is not continual postponing.  For me, the biggest problem has been the composer's slowness in delivering material.  He has way too much on his plate and come and is now going to be gone for ten days starting Tuesday.  We've constantly asked him to work on the many times he's away, as he always has his days free - but he doesn't do it.  This time he will.  Period.  If he doesn't come back with the two songs I definitely want fixed he will not want to know me. :)

The fallout continues: I've lost another friend at the Library of Congress this morning. I hope this friendship can be repaired and I'm doing my damnedest, but it was a very terse and unpleasant phone call. I sent a very sincere, apologetic email, but I have no idea what wll be the outcome at this point.

Is LA under any sort of Tsunami Watch for later this afternoon? I know they've issued "High Wave" warnings for Santa Monica. -Thankfully, the warnings right now are just for 2-foot high waves. Well, 2-feet above normal.

If you can't be at the Closing Ceremonies in Vancouver in person, you might as well be there virtually:

I will be spending Sunday afternoon watching Rhoda be drunk and spoil a looping session. I'm looking forward to it.

I will, therefore, miss Jose's trip to Chelsea.

DR Ben will be attending a performance of LOOPED starring Valerie Harper.

And I shall be "attending" the Grand Finale of the City Bakery Hot Chocolate Festival.

I never noticed that Dennis Morgan was not a good actor, I was always too focused on what a hottie he was! And that is good enough for me!  ;D

TOD:

I really have not clue, but most likely my first pizza was at Abbey's Pizza Parlor in Medford which was my dad's favorite place to go on Friday nights, after his baseball games.

Hamburgers...hmmm...had them at home and at other peoples homes quite often, I would guess, but first one out would maybe be McDonald's when it first arrived in Medford circa 1975.

Is that the Tallulah Bankhead show?  I mean LOOPED, of course; not the Hot Chocolate Festival.

Saturday.  We have a dusting of snow.

You will be happy to learn that while DR JMK bought a house, I have purchased 33 feet of 7/8" Wrights black sequin trim to enhance my disco outfit.  Pictures will be forthcoming at a future date.

Oh gosh, that earthquake in Chile does look fearsome. The last episode of The Amazing Race took place in Chile, and it is such a beautfiul country. Very sad,

And I see that most of the coastal towns in Oregon are under a Tsunami watch, as well as some in Washington and Long Beach in California.

CNN is showing an interview with this Chilean woman, and everytime I walk into the room, I think that is Washington's Senator Patty Murray.

Whoops, that is no woman; that is the Chilean President.

As for the Topic of the Day....

Pizza - I'm guessing it was either Shakey's or Pizza Hut. Cheese and pepperoni. *And the Birthday Pizza at Shakey's - with the eyes and smile made out of Pepperoni slices.. and the nose made out of a marshmallow(?) since it held the candle.

Hamburgers - Most likely McDonald's. However, the ones I really remember from my childhood were the ones from Herfy's in Seattle in their Kid's Meal boxes. Good burgers, and they had a "coupon" on the box for a free soft-serve cone for dessert. :)

DR TCB - Is Herfy's still in business?

The last time I paid attention, there were a couple of Herfy's still in business in the Seattle area.

Dick's Drive-In remains the definitive Seattle burger chain.
