MR BK's favorite moment of the Oscar telecast, and a little story to go along with it.

Thanks for the link DR JULIE.

I don't care what they say about all the "agonizing" they claim they did.  You MAKE time for a feature like this....you don't try to make it fit into a slot.....it is important.....of all the things they let go on and on and are free and easy on time with - and this they say it has this much time....no more!  Ridiculous.  The show ran overtime anyway!  I would rather have seen a complete "Memoriam" than those crap intros they did for the Best Actor and Best Actress Nominees....four of which by definition have to be deemed extraneous.

And no THE FLY, Vincent Price, or William Castle in the horror "salute".

While I was in surgery Keith browsed the gift shop in the hospital & couldn't resist this dog.  You need to watch the video to hear why, the dog sounds like Sherlock when he is sleeping.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnSYCV06-do

Interesting explanation. Obviously the woman was still in the wrong. But I wonder what would have happened if he had clarified to her beforehand, "if i win I AM GOING UP THERE NOT YOU."

You know, years ago they included many more people in the RIP tribute on the Oscars. I don't know why they can't do that, still.

Does anyone know why Farrah Fawcett wasn't mentioned? I heard someone else mention that.  I thought it was find this year. But I read an article (maybe it was posted here) recently that put a damper on the whole thing for me.  It was stated that they start with a huge list and then cut off those who they think will be less recognizable. And then the family members of those overlooked contact the academy after devastated.

I don't like the idea that they wittle down the list at all. They should include everybody, even if they have to do it in the credits at the end.

Last night DR MattH wrote:

Wow. This shows how different our tastes are.  I thought she looked stunning.  I also thought Sarah Jessica Parker looked amazing (i think you did not like her dress). And i thought charlize looked nice.

I am very curious to see who will be on the Best Dressed lists tonight. Obviously it's very subjective.

I did see Randolph Duke last night and i believe he liked SJP a lot too. But i can see how some people would dislike it. Btw, the back view was completely stunning as well.

I don't think it was a terrible error that Farrah Fawcett, primarily a TV star, with few movie credits was left off.  But if Michael Jackson, with even fewer movie credits , was included, she definitely should have been.

I am so frustrated with the shoddiness in current-day journalism:

I just read an article in which the writer, trying to explain why "Avatar" lost at the Oscars, stated that 12 years ago, Cameron's "Titanic" was nominated for a "record" 14 Oscars and won a "record" 9 Oscars!

Balderdash!  "Titanic" tied with "All About Eve" for the record number of nominations...or, rather, "matched" 'Eve's" record.  As for wins, 9 was hardly a "record'.  "The Last Emperor" won 9.  "West Side Story" won 10.

The fact is that "Titanic" won 11 -- "matching " "Ben-Hur's" record 11 wins.  And a few years later, "The Return of the King" matched it again.

These facts are so EASY to verify...yet, year after year, entertainment wirters just make stuff up and pronounce this that and the other as though they had a clue about that which they are writing.

I can't believe it, but I went on a bike ride. I don't think I've ever attempted to go out in early march.

But the temps have been warm (low 40s). And i've seen other people biking.

There is still snow on the ground. But the roads and bike paths are completely clear. And even thought it was only 7C, it actually did not feel cold at all (i had 2 long sleeve shirts and a fleece sweater on but still).

It's been 4 months since i've been out. It felt great!

Yes, DR Jennifer, we will definitely have to disagree about those clothes. I don't claim to be any kind of expert or fashion guru. I just know what I like and what I don't. There's no right or wrong.
