DR Jane - A friend of mine is over in London right now for some concert appearances, and he asked me if there was anything that I'd like for him to bring back for me.  -Which candies and flavors do you like again? ;)

Thornton's special toffee. http://www.thorntons.co.uk/ThorntonsSite/pages/cm/cm.asp?sCCPage=404Error&cookie_test=1

Mint is my favorite, though knowing your taste you might like some with nuts.  I've never had the licorice toffee so I'm wondering if it was available last time I was in a Thornton's. I would personally skip their chocolate.  Stick to the candy bars you know & like.

Thornton's also have delicious mint humbugs.

Marks & Spencer had wonderful mint humbugs, maybe better than the ones from Thornton's.  Once day I might be able to do a side by side tasting.

Darn, it didn't say what kind of razor she used...

And you need to know so you can avoid a similar mishap?

DR George, good luck on your car bill.  Maybe you will finally begin walking to & from work now that you are in the habit of doing so. :)

Thanks, but I wouldn't call walking once as being "in the habit." ::)

But that was the idea behind me buying the condo so close to work (that I would walk), but I really haven't gotten "in the habit"...yet.

Someday.

It was very nice of your friend to offer.  We pack with so little extra room in the suitcase I have to eat most of my treats before we return home.

Dennis Dugan does much more directing than acting these days. I see his name come up a pretty good bit on episodes of shows that I watch.

I had time to get Monday night's DAMAGES watched before I finished cooking lunch. The vise is really tightening on some characters, and the murder mystery is also clearing up and we're getting some really tangible clues. Loved the episode.

While I ate lunch, I watched the season finale of WHITE COLLAR. A superlative season finale really setting up the second season (to begin this summer) beautifully.

Hmm?  What?  Where am I?  Oh, I guess having my alarm go off at 5:30am means I'll have to take a nap in the afternoon.

Thanks for the report Ginny.  I'm glad it went well & you are permitted to stand, just in case the day comes my release it not honored.

You're welcome, DR Jane.  I suspect it all depends on the judge.

And I just checked online and do not have to report tomorrow - only 6 more bullets to dodge.

Then I watched my work project of the day: SANJURO. It's a follow-up to YOJIMBO, of course, but it has a slightly different tone and (for me) wasn't as funny. However, it's certainly a fine, fine movie and one I'll revisit on Blu-ray often.

The blacks are the deepest I've ever seen, but other than that, it's really a superlative transfer. And the audio offers a choice between PCM 1.0 and DTS-HD MA 3.0. I listened to some of both but spent most of it with the 3.0 mix which does what it can to replicate the Perspecta Stereo Sound heard at some theaters.

I listened to about 30 minutes of the commentary, done by the same scholar who did the one on YOJIMBO, and it's filled with lots of interesting information. Again, I'll want to go back and listen to the whole thing at some point.

The excerpt from the Kurosawa TV special on SANJURO lasted about 35 minutes. And then there was a trailer, a teaser, and a stills gallery. That was all of the bonuses they had with this one.

I skimmed through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Nothing of interest.

Then I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke was on (in a dreary subplot with his pill popping little sister). Both Luke and Dr. Pill will be on tomorrow.

Once again, the Disney TOY STORY Blu-rays did not arrive. I feel sure they'll come tomorrow morning, but in case they don't, I have BIGGER THAN LIFE on Blu-ray ready to go. I was hoping to do this one on Saturday, but I'll fall back on it tomorrow if I need to.

I forgot to mention that I also had time to finish rewatching the final two skaters in the ladies long program at the Olympics in HD: Joannie and Mirai. It was a pleasure to watch both of them skate again.

Tonight I plan to crack open the Blu-ray double feature of PRESUMED INNOCENT/FRANTIC and watch FRANTIC. It has been longer since I rewatched it than PRESUMED INNOCENT, so I'll start with it. I like them both about equally which is to say, I think they're both very entertaining.

Could he bring back John Barrowman?

I thought Barrowman was state-side filming episodes of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

And I will be leaving the office shortly to go get my echo cardiogram.  WHile it's a much easier test than the stress test, I hate having to contort myself on the examination table so they can get a good picture.

Will there be a video?

I spent three hours giving my notes on the long musical.  And that should be it until after the reading.  I then was starving so I went to Hugo's.
