I missed something somewhere.  I didn't get the  Gower and Ginger and Hermes joke.

Mr Pan was in charge of Ms Rogers when she was at RKO, and so he knew first hand about the challenge of teaching her dancing.

This was kept as a VERY big secret during her lifetime obviously since the public recital of their time together is always peppered with exuberant praise for Ginger for having to learn the same dances backwards and in heels.

Maybe they always meant that her dancing was backwards.

And Backwards in High Heels happens to be the name of the musical I was playing auditions for the other week.  It's been produced at some smaller theaters around the country over the past two years, and I believe there's currently a production running out in California (in Long Beach, I believe).  The new production is a "co-pro" of a couple of different theaters, and it will essentially tour for a couple of months from theater to theater.

I had an enjoyable evening of viewing.

I began with the romantic comedy THE UGLY TRUTH which I had recorded from Starz-HD. I liked the leading actors (Eric Winter was also in it). It's fairly predictable stuff, but there is still great pleasure when the brute turns into something of a marshmallow and falls for the girl despite all his best efforts. You wait for the moment, it happens, and it doesn't disappoint. Sadly, the break-up after that and then the inevitable make-up isn't worthy of the film at its best.

I didn't have enough time to watch a regular length movie if I was to tune into CHUCK at 8:30, so I pulled out SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE SECRET WEAPON, the second of the Rathbone/Holmes movies and always one of my favorites. Loved all of Basil's disguises in this one. He dons three different ones during the 69 minute running time of the film.

My designer hated Backwards In High Heels - I never heard of it, but he saw it the other night and thought it dreadful.

Great! I'm recording it now and will likely watch it tomorrow while I eat lunch. I can save DAMAGES for another time.

Boy is this movie bad - I'm having to take continual breaks but I will see it through to the bitter and I do mean bitter end.

CHUCK was an excellent episode tonight, one of the strongest of the season, and if I hadn't known better, I might have thought it was a season finale since there were some game-changing elements (hopefully only temporary) as part of the plot tonight.

And '24' had another nail-biter on tap tonight. The show has finally gotten back to the '24' of earlier seasons, and I was SO mad when it ended. I could have watched another hour of it right then because it was so wonderfully plotted and excitingly paced. (Maybe these shows tonight just seemed better after suffering through these Costa movies this weekend with their lethargic pacing and overextended scenes).

I have nothing in my review queue at all now, so I'm depending on that UPS delivery notice with the TOY STORY Blu-rays to be truthful and bring them to my door tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll have a day off.

I was just the piano player. For the auditions.  That is all.

*And this is a "new", further revised version.  -Although, I believe the ICT production in Long Beach did receive some nice reviews.

I was surprised he didn't like it - he usually likes everything. :)

Well...

I hate to Wussburger, but...

I'm still feeling a bit "coldish"...

I didn't sleep all that well last night...

And I have a full day of auditions ahead of me tomorrow...

So...

Goodnight.

Yesterday, I had brunch with my friend Margo at a small local restaurant called The New Moon.  I had a Monte Cristo with hash browns.  It wasn't too bad and it's local.  And the waiter was cute...young, but cute. ;) After brunch, I came home and did a lot of TV watching.  I also put up some new shelves for my DVDs!  Here's a picture:

I still have more DVDs to put up, but I'm sure I have enough room for them all.  We'll see about what videotapes I'll have room put there.

Shelves look great!!!And how nice to provide boxes for your cat!

Yeah, but I see he has a hefty mallet to keep them in line.

DR George - I hope you have/are having/had a great first rehearsal of The Brain from Planet X.

Thanks!  It was fun.  We just sang through the chorus numbers a couple of times...no real detail work, though.  And we got measured for costumes.  Then we left and I came home.  I checked me e-mail and have been watching "Chuck."
