I was asked to watch and give thoughts on a new A&E reality show premiering tonight - Family Plots, about a real Poway family-owned mortuary business.  And hilarity ensues.   My thoughts are over at The DVD Place.  I couldn't for the life of me understand why they'd want my thoughts, but the person who contacted me likes my DVD ramblings.  Of course, this is a TV show not a DVD, but I'm happy to oblige.

Evening all!  I am very sorry to be so E & T.  It's getting close to trip(s) time  so I have a million things to do.  Just a little over 2 weeks but I'm not counting!

I'll have to tell you which Broadway actor/actress I like when I get back from there.

I hope that all are doing well and are happy and safe.   :)

Good vibes to everyone!

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/move]

I've missed you all.  I don't know if chat is tonight or if it was last night but I'm sorry if I missed it (again).

I did something very bad yesterday.  I was carrying a bag of dog food on my shoulder and trying to get though the gate with it.  I didn't look at the top.  There was a lizard there and when I pulled the gate open, I killed him.  God, I can't even begin to tell you how bad I feel about that.  I didn't mean to do it.

I am now officially 8 pounds away from my goal!

I was afraid of that.  Sigh.  I saw or heard something about that show your going to watch, BK.    Another in the "must miss" series of TV shows for me, I'm afraid.

I'm passing on FAMILY PLOTS.  I'm in the middle of a soap opera called INFIDELITY; my goddaughter's godmother Celia Weston is playing Kim Delaney's mother, and Celia's always fun to watch.

I always thought that Jim Stanek would hit the big time before Patrick Wilson, but, it seems that Patrick is poised on the steps right now with THE ALAMO in theaters and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA lensing.
I'd add:
Emily Skinner
Alice Ripley
Matthew Stokey
Christian Borle
Donna Lynn Champlin
Maya Cantu
David Pittu
Andrea Burns
Susan Egan
Marin Mazzie
Don Stephenson
Judith Blazer
Victoria Clark
Bob Cuccioli
Michelle Pawk
Martin Moran
and, as Patti LuPone, EvilTwin Janet Fanale herself:

I'm off shortly to sup with my pal David.  Keep the home fries burning so I have lots of fun stuff to read upon my return.  Almost through implementing changes to the book.  Hoo and ray.  Then I shall read it again and see if I like what I've done.

For something completely different:

(The download takes a while, but it definitely is worth the wait.)

Trust me on this one, Dear Readers.

Wanted to post a public thank you to the ever beautiful and ever generous MBarnum for the fantastic Jeff Richards DVD he sent me today. The movie may have been a Warners B-picture, but Jeff was Prime Grade A #1 beef. Wow! He looked great!

Weird.  I just realized what I wrote this morning about TOD didn't post, but then I was doing a lot of strange things on my PC in work today, so I probably neglected a little detail like clicking the "Post" button".

As far as B'way stars are concerned, I am pretty much unimaginatively a fan of the big names like Patti Lapone, Bernadette Peters, Audra McDonald, Nathan Lane, Donna Murphy, Bebe Neuwirth and Kristin Chenoweth (though before Wicked I was most definately not a fan.)

It's difficult to come up with any up-and-comers because, lately,  they all seem to make a splash and then make the move to other areas.  The only ones I can think of are from relatively recent shows:  Marissa Jaret Winokur, Kerry Butler, Jennifer Westfeldt, the cast of Avenue Q.

There's a slew of terrific people who haven't strayed too far away from doing musical theatre and keep coming back to do more:  Karen Ziemba, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Alice Ripley, Emily Skinner, Rebecca Luker.  But overall, as talented as these people are, they've never clicked for me.  I see finely tuned performances from these people, but they lack that big personality that I like to see fill a stage.

Good to have you back, dear Jenny.  No set?  No Waiter's Gallop?  Opens Friday?
New concept for Hello, Dolly!  Since it's based on a play by Thornton Wilder, who also wrote Our Town, let's merge the two and have a setless HD!

Dolly enters the Harmonia Gardens by way of a step-ladder.  Works for me!   ;D

Well, I'm proud of me. I finally got to the end of LOST IN TRANSLATION this afternoon. It took three days to watch that endless non-movie (it didn't move much or move me).

An Oscar for Bill Murray? Maybe for GROUNDHOG DAY where he did show a range of emotions and moods, but for this? It would have been a criminal injustice to have given it to him.

Howdy, all. It's yer pal, PennyO, posting from DR Jane's house. Keith whipped us up a fine veg dinner, featuring tofu, and some grilled tofu, and a  little sauteed tofu. Mmmmm, yummy. For dessert, someone gimme a slab o' beef! They do have ice cream, wads of it, so I got into that. Anyway, crack o' dawn will see me zipping away Nawth. Lovely drive today. More later.
