I think I am supposed to make meatballs tomorrow. Not sure what else. Probably something with potatoes. My mom is making matzah ball soup and brisket. Yum!

I ended up staying in bed a bit longer since I Alec Baldwin was guest hosting on "Studio 360".  I normally tune out and get out of bed once "Studio 360" starts, but not today.  Alec Baldwin starts off with a very fun interview with Laura Linney, and then it just stayed "fun" for the rest of the hour.  I really like his "reasons" for why and where the regular host, Kurt Anderson, was not available this week - "He's currently locked in the trunk of my Toyota."  "And he'll be back next week if he can find the anti-venom in time."  ;)  In any case...

The whole show is up on the interwebs already: Studio 360.

I noticed yesterday that my crocus, tulips and daffodils are starting to come up.  I also saw my first Robin yesterday, she was looking for a place to nest

Blooming my yard: Daffodils, camelias, native pachysandra, epimedium (adorable pale yellow blossoms that look like tiny daffodils) lungwort, bloodroot, trillium, summer snowflake, and the japanese magnolias are just starting to bloom. I got a lot of spring gardening cleaning done yesterday, just before the rain. I love spring!

That was very funny, DR JOSE.

Although my favorite greeting cards will always be:

Hats off to your new hairpiece!

Congratulations on the giant sea tortoise.

AND of course:

I'll be damned - you were excommunicated!

Now, about PROMISES, PROMISES. Is this only going to be a modified Encores staging at the Broadway or are they doing the full-out show? If they are doing the complete, full out production, the Broadway (which is admittedly a huge theater) would be an acceptable venue given the lack of prime musical houses being tied up by long running hits.

I mean, I saw the original at the Shubert which, though not as large as the Broadway, is still a full size musical house.

Yes, Promises was a big, splashy show in the Shubert.  If they were doing it correctly, the Broadway should be fine.

Well... I was commenting more on the ability to fill the house - all those seats! - rather than the size of the show itself.

But since they're using "I Say A Little Prayer For You" in their advertising... Maybe people will think it's a musical version of "My Best Friend's Wedding".  ::)

Yes it was/is, DR JRand.  His whole series of "Greeting Card Emergencies" is great.  -And you can even write in to him with your own GCE, and see what he comes up with. -He used to be a writer for Hallmark, so he knows his stuff.

JR, please to tell this half-Jew:  where exactly does one procure a St. Joseph statue?

I could always stop by the gift shop in St. Patrick's Cathedral for you. ;)

Well, I have had a busy morning.
I placed flowers on the altar at church this morning in Dad's memory - it's five years to the day since he died.
Dixie Bell and I walked around the Drainage Authority, where she decided that mud is a good thing. . .NOT to me.
Had a half hour rehearsal for the solo I'm singing on Easter Sunday as well as the song I'm performing with the choir. . .
This will be my solo number next week:

On my wish list:  a gospel choir to back me up and Michael Ball's wardrobe. . . .

The next Pickled Pig Pub Beer Soiree:

Our Culinary Institute of America gradutates, Chef Michael Stiglitz and Chef Jen Blakeman have put together a feast you will have to taste to believe! Pub Manager Ben Muse has also carefully picked some of Delaware's finest craft brews to pair with each course - enjoy!

Third Course:
IPA Sous Vide King Salmon
warm ramp salad, baby carrot, asparagus, radish
paired with Twin Lakes Winterthur Wheat

Um, so does this mean that he will "sous vide" the King Salmon in IPA? If so, I do hope that means that he'll be placing the IPA in the sous vide packet, rather than using the IPA as the "water" to sous vide the packet of salmon in.

DR JMK - Former "Gourmet" editor, Ruth Reichl, will be heading to Portland today as per her Twitter account:

@ruthreichl Leaving Tacoma, heading to Portland. Planning to wander the streets, eating all day. Can't wait. Suggestions?

It also looks like her alter-ego/Anthony Bourdain mash-up will be too:

@ruthbourdain Leaving Tacoma & never coming back. Heading to Portland. No hotel. Planning to wander the streets like a gypsy, eating all day. Can't wait.

And for breakfast - straight from Portland (not Maine)....

THE BACON MAPLE BAR!

der Brucer

I think I'll still to City Bakery more "elegant" Maple-Bacon Scone.  -Accompanied by a cup of their Original Hot Chocolate "With", of course.

Wonder why the first three names don't have anything under them.....must be strangers to the producers.

Oh, and "dance music arrangements by David Chase."  Funny, I thought this show had dance music arrangements, and great ones at that.

Isn't it a given by now that (almost) ALL revivals will have "new arrangements", "new songs" and "new dance arrangements"?  Heck, even Encores! usually has David Ives streamline the books of the shows they present.  In any case...

I know, I know... Doesn't make it right.  -But what is "right" in this respect?  Discuss.
