It was one of the first planned communities in the U.S. and is full of common areas ...

So, you're moving to a commune - figures  ;)

Yes, now it's 7.2 - I'm sorry, but a quakes of that magnitude have decimated whole cities - thus far, there has not been one report of any damage.

It is still early - but damage has been reported:

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Quote

...
The 7.2-magnitude quake was felt as far north as Santa Barbara, USGS seismologist Susan Potter said. It was one of the strongest to hit California in recent history. Only one has been stronger — a 7.3 quake that hit Landers, Calif., and left three dead in 1992 — and there were at least two other 7.2-magnitude quakes in the last 20 years.

Calexico Fire Chief Peter Mercado tells KABC-TV in Los Angeles that there is substantial damage in the older section of the southeastern California city. Mercado says there is structural damage and broken windows, leaking gas lines and damage to the water system. But he says no injuries have been reported.

Across the border, a parking structure at the Mexicali city hall has collapsed. Mexicali is a bustling commerce center where trucks carrying goods cross into California.

...

Damge varies with both magnitude and depth of the quake - this was a deep quake, and should cause less surface damage than a smaller quake the was shallower.

And this from Mexacali sure looks like damage to me:

Glad to know that everyone on board is OK in LA.  -Regardless of how strong or not strong the earthquake was.

I just performed "Waters of March" a week or so ago...

Which means it ended just last night? ;)

Water Sloshing in the Pool is the title of my new CD of water songs.

I read a tweet earlier something along the lines of:

ALERT: There was an earthquake in Baja, Mexico; and people in Los Angeles have pools.

And if we felt the 4.0 quake, would we not have felt the 7.2 quake twenty minutes earlier?

Not if the 4.0 was closer (which it was) and shallower (which it probably was).

HA!!

So... The power went out during the last 20 minutes of Wicked in New Orleans last night.  They didn't complete the show.  However, they did go ahead and sing "For Good" with a piano and flashlights.

...Why goose instead of duck?...

Traditionally, a Christmas Goose will feed a family - not so a duck.

From an animal husbandry point of view, geese take less tending than do ducks.

Well...

I've decided to head into Philly for the day tomorrow for some sight-seeing, some food-ing and some getting-out-of-NYC-ing, so...

Goodnight.

I will never move again.
All kitchen things are in storage, I feel like I live in too many places.  Not even going to try to pull it all together for another couple of months.   It's too much.  I feel too old.

Welcome home and welcome back, Sam!
