No UPS deliveries yet, and I'm still on the fence about what (if anything) to review today. Right now, I'm leaning toward taking the day off rather than doing VIVRE SA VIE on Blu-ray. If the Fox discs come in, of course I'll do one of them today. If not, I'll likely take the day off.

'24' has a two hour broadcast tonight, and there are also new episodes of CHUCK, CASTLE, and NURSE JACKIE for me.

Funny. Last season, Showtime was placing the next episode of NURSE JACKIE a week early in the On Demand site, and so I almost always watched those and never from the network. They're not doing that (so far) this season, so I have to record from the network broadcast.

I cannot believe these theater professionals don't respect the director's SOLE right to give notes on performances. Even on community theater level, I don't remember ever being given notes by anyone except the director (about the performance) or the choreographer (about dance moves) or music director (about singing). But the acting part has always been the director's SOLE domain.

It's hard to know why Dumbo was postponed here - it's now been released in France, the UK, Japan, and Spain.

DR Edi - The NACDL magazine The Champion has a review of Sacco and Vanzetti this month.  Funny, I tried to get a showing through them back in 2007, anyway, I'm not sure you can get it online, if you would like a copy I'd be glad to scan it and send it to you.  The last paragraph starts:
Quote
Documentary filmmaker Peter Miller masterfully brings to life the story of Sacco and Vanzetti.

Good morning, all! The alarm went off at 7 am, I woke with a fuzzy throat and decided to stay in bed for a while. I am bathed and dressed, I answered a lot of emails, and I am ready to run to the post office to mail three important packages. After that, it's back here to work on OZ and Montgomery & Stone.

The fuzzy throat means I'm about to get, or coming down with, a cold, and I am not happy about this at all.

I'm up and have a busy day ahead.  Just wanted to stop in and tell Edi of the great review of Sacco and Vanzetti!

Do you think it might be last minute squeamishness with the black crows' scenes? Preposterous, I know, but stranger things have set off protests.

I'm heading down now to get cleaned up for lunch out later with best friend John. I may have time to fit in last week's LAW & ORDER before we head out.

I believe there are several news articles on Blu-ray.com dealing with Dumbo's postponement.

I can't remember a time without potatoes and I can't imagine a world without them.

I can't think of a potato I didn't like.  Perhaps that explains the fat jeans.

For those of you who think this board is dysfunctional (and you know who you are), I am just flabbergasted over the A&M Board.  I got Sergio's new CD from Japan on Friday and posted a *very* general "first impressions" report, which was then met with a long flurry of protests from other posters that I was "spoiling" their listening experience.  Despite me not really saying anything specific other than it reminded me of Sergio's album "Arara."  This no spoilers business is ridiculous, if you ask me.  But of course, you didn't.  :)

I guess Dumbo has been postponed.

I love Dumbo (not DUMBO (Down Underneath the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) the neighborhood, the postponed Disney animated film)

I'm seeing my very first (modern) 3-D film this afternoon. After work I'm going with a friend to see Alice in Wonderland. I do resent paying $16 for a movie ($12.75 plus a $3 surcharge for the glasses) but he wants to see it and I'm somewhat interested after seeing a preview for the film.

Should we have posted a NO SPOILER alert that Dumbo has been postponed?

I had a Face Your Fear . . . and Do It Anyway moment over the weekend.

As I mentioned, we were on Long Island for the weekend.

I have a fear of heights but Anthony's father asked him if he would clean the skylights. They live in a one story, ranch style house but his father shouldn't be climbing ladders and going on roofs to clean skylights so he asked Anthony. Anthony, in turn, asked me if I would help him. He said if I didn't feel comfortable I could say now but it's easier to clean the skylights with two people so I said yes.

The climb up the ladder was OK and being on the roof (it's spacious and broad not slanted) was not a problem. We cleaned the skylights and then Anthony got on the ladder and climbed down. As soon as I walked to the ladder to begin the descent I began to hyperventilate (mildly) and grabbed the ladder very, very tightly. I had to step around into open space to get onto the first step. I did that, and lo and behold, I almost immediately relaxed. I was able to climb down the ladder and get on ground without a problem. I did go around the corner to the picnic table and sit down for a minute to catch my breath and relax again but I was happy I was able to help Anthony and climb down the ladder without a real problem.

I still don't think I can go back up to the Cupola of Saint Paul's in London (I had a VERY bad incident there in 1988) but climbing up to the roof and getting down and surviving was gratifying to say the least!

Oh, I hope not.  That sequence is great and only a jerk would be offended.  It would be like taking offense at Gravis Mushnick and other characters in Little Shop of Horrors because they're Jewish stereotypes.  Who cares?
