Well, it didn't not rain, so that means I need to get out and do some yard work.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I believe I'm "me" again. At least according to my MacBook.

*I still have a bit of house-cleaning - well, hard-drive cleaning - to take care of, but I'll be taking care of that with an assist from a friend who used to be an Apple Store Mac Genius.  After he talked me through some of the basics, it looks like I might be able to clean up about 20 Gigs(!) worth of duplicate files!

Well, just as I got my grubbies on and stepped outside to begin working in the yard, it began to rain.

Yipee!

So instead I am showered and shaved and off to Big Lots.

Ben Brantley admits, I Lost It to Stephen Sondheim.

*And I have to say, that some of the comments/recollections made me lose it a bit too.  Some very wonderful "memories", and it's fascinating reading what everyone's "first Sondheim" was - from people of all age groups, backgrounds and circumstances.

And my favorite sentence from Brantley's "Theatre Talk Back" is:

"I had just started to realize that one of the reasons people (including me) so often cry at musicals was the disparity between the rosiness of the world these shows created and the grayness of real life."

TOD:

I did not have to think very long.....

I LOVE LUCY

Terrific writing, perfect cast (although some guest shots in the early episodes don't work for me) - and so funny.

My second choice would be:

PEYTON PLACE - although only the first two volumes are currently available.....I mean, "The continuing story of....PEYTON PLACE..."

You forgot WILL & GRACE.   :)

DR George, thanks for reminding me of that Manhattan Transfer summer series. I can still visualize some of the musical numbers. It was a great TV variety show and I'd love to see it again.

But I think I'd have to pick Carol Burnett's show as my first pick, if only because it lasted longer. I know that her show hasn't been released in its entirety, but that's the way I'd love to see it. I was just remembering the other day an evening when she had Cass Elliott on. Great singing. And just fun. Of course, the entire cast also kept me in stitches.

TOD: I would take I, Claudius and Slings & Arrows because they are my favourites of all time.  I might also take GUNSMOKE, simply because it ran for twenty years and until this year I never saw any episodes.

And ain't it the case that some of Mr. Brantley's bizzare quirks are responsible for the greyness in the real lives of many people many of us know?
