Oh yes, DR JMK - I would love to have been at the premiere of COME & GET IT in Seattle.....I am sure it was much more exciting than it was presented in FRANCES.....

I think that scene in FRANCES was shot at the Paramount Theater, where I spent many wonderful Saturday afternoons of my youth.

Frances (the person, not the film) would have been the usherette with the vodka tonic in her hand.  ;)

As for the Topic of the Day...

"The Singing Cavalier"

;D

You mean THE DANCING CAVALIER.

Though I think the premier of THE DUELING CAVALIER would have been more fun.

TOD:

I'm not too hip on the history of movie premiers.  I'm sure it would have been fun to have attended those that were obviously full of fame and glamour like GONE WITH THE WIND, A STAR IS BORN and MY FAIR LADY.

Have there been any infamous premiers with gossipy bad behavior?

Congrats to DR ArnoldMBrockman's Craig and his soon-to-be-bride Heather!

(That is,  DR ArnoldMBrockman's Craig's soon-to-be-bride and not DR ArnoldMBrockman's.)

BK, as to your mention yesterday about my interest in the CD for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, Fred Katz has never been a big favorite of mine, although I do admit to having some fondness for his score to WASP WOMAN (which might actually be the same as the score to LSOH). LSOH is a CD that I may like to buy eventually, but right at this moment my finances are in seriously bad shape so my purchasing power has been greatly curtailed

I am saving up for your autobiography, which I simply can't pass up, but I will have to wait until payday before I can order it as I no longer have any credit cards, only cash monies.

And as for my favorites, I know that you know what I want to see released on CD! Some Albert Glasser, DAY OF THE OUTLAW, some soundtracks to assorted Allied Artists and United Artists B movies, and other more obscure things like that would be wonderful (some great Drive-in double feature soundtracks from 50s teen films or B noir, for instance would be fun)

Please know, BK, that I support the wonderful work Kritzerland is doing in releasing all of these soundtracks, regardless of if they are ones that interest me or not. You are doing a great service in preserving valuable film music and film history and that is something I applaud!!!!

All understood - but I just thought Little Shop would have been your cuppa - and, if anyone on this site wants a CD and can't afford it when it's announced, write me so I can at least hold one for you because some of these things sell out within a day.

While driving home from my errands I was thinking about the board meeting I have to attend tonight and realized that I'd been asked to take minutes at the last one.  Now, I'm frantically trying to read my notes and construct something that looks and sounds coherent.

I had planned on watching and reviewing the Blu-ray of WALKABOUT today, but lo and behold in the USPS mail there arrived the regular DVD version of the movie. So, I put the Blu-ray back into the review stack (to be done after I get through the Oshima box set) and get ready to watch the DVD version after I finished lunch.

While I ate lunch, I watched NURSE JACKIE from last night. Good episode though I always prefer the hospital shenanigans to the domestic encounters, especially with this obnoxious friend of her daughter's who Jackie (and I) loathe.

Then I watched the DVD of WALKABOUT. The film is, as it has always been, part odyssey film, part tone poem, part stinging comment on encroaching civilization. It's always been a kind of hypnotic film, and this time around for me was no different.

There's a nice new transfer that I'll be eager to see what it looks like on the Blu-ray version. Even here, it looks pretty nice overall, and I enjoyed revisiting it.

There are twenty minute interviews with the two British stars of the movie and an hour long documentary about the aboriginel star.

Also a commentary with the director and Jenny Agutter (recorded separately and combined) and the trailer.

A nice package

Then I had time to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest, but Luke and Reid are on tomorrow's show.

I can't believe the weather today. Yesterday it was 60s. And this friday-sat-sun is supposed to be 70. But today it is snowing. And it's a thick yucky messy snow. Yuck!

DR Jane, i was at Chapters (book store) and they had the paper back for THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE. So i sat down and re-read the last chapter.

It was the paperback. So it had the first chapter to the next book. So i decided to read it. It also had a blurb about it (which i had not yet read).

I don't undersand the reasoning behind LOST being a repeat tonight, but it is. It's the Richard Alpert episode, and while I enjoyed it, I don't really want to rewatch it. However, I'm assuming there will be squeegees added to the show, and they might be fun, so I will likely DVR the show. I'll watch it tomorrow when I'm eating lunch.

I also don't get this. And i'm sure a lot of people will be annoyed when the tune in. I mentioned this last week that it was gonna be a repeat. Since i was checking my tv's schedule and noticed that the show isn't even on the canadian station. So i looked online and saw it was a repeat.

:(

At least there is lots of other stuff on.

And AMERICAN IDOL will probably go over again. So if you're recording GLEE make sure to add extra time if you can.
