DR elmore - And speaking of your colleague, Curtis, I happened to run into him at yesterday's "Free for All" concert at Town Hall.  The featured guests were Stephanie Blythe and Warren Jones.  It was quite a wonderful program.  The centerpiece was a set of 12 Emily Dickinson poems set by James Legg - whom I believe you may have known (too).

I loved Jim Legge, who was a wonderful person as well as a good composer. His death still shocks me. I completely forgot about the program or I would have been there. I had a deadline with the Herbert scores but I wanted to hear Jim's songs.

Greetings from Toyland. I have accomplished everything I need to do today, and I have about 30 minutes of playtime before I head to Fed Ex and then to the memorial service.

In continuing It's An Honor Just to Be Nominated (since I don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning) news, I have been nominated for an OTAS Award for MDing The Producers.  If I get a Drammy nom, I'll be three for three.

Congrats on Just Being Nominated!! ;D

One show that i'm not sure anyone here watches, IN PLAIN SIGHT starts here tonight. I believe it is on USA network and started a few weeks ago in the US. I really like this show.

I never miss an episode! (I keep waiting for  Frederick Weller to do frontal nudity like he did on Broaway!)

TOD:  I really don't see much point in buying cast recordings in languages I don't understand.

Well, then, no RENT for you.

'Dancing with the Stars' champ Nicole Scherzinger has been cast as Maureen.

But I think the most controversial is Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) as Mimi.

I dimly recall seeing a Japanese FIDDLER ON THE ROOF back in the LP days.  I would have liked to have heard that one...
I do have that one. If I ever convert it to CD, I'll send you a copy.

I love HOW CAN I KEEP FROM SINGING?  I have done several spectacularly beautiful arrangements through the years.

In continuing It's An Honor Just to Be Nominated (since I don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning) news, I have been nominated for an OTAS Award for MDing The Producers.  If I get a Drammy nom, I'll be three for three.

Happy news, indeed.

TOD:  I really don't see much point in buying cast recordings in languages I don't understand.  I think I have few British cast recordings, but nothing other than that.

Let me put this forth, as it's one of the reasons that I do enjoy foreign language recordings:
Music, like love, is a universal language; if done properly many shows should be listenable in any language whether they were originally conceived in Esperanto, Dutch, Italian or French.

That said, I'm the guy who has multiple recordings, in many languages of:
BLOOD BROTHERS
TITANIC - the Dutch cast has been mentioned, but there is also a very good recording from Hamburg in German.

But I'm a lyric kind of guy.

DR Ron Pulliam - Look sideways.

;)

Or.. <3 = <heart>  As in "I <3 New York".

*In some programs, it will actually produce a "heart" dingbat: ♥

Did you just call Ron a dingbat?

What happened to Debbie Reynolds who said she had been asked to take over Madame Armfeldt?

The first thought that went through my head was "Bernadette Peters and Billy Stritch?"

I am really not too sure about Elaine Stritch in that part.  Billy might be better.

For anyone other than vixmom who may have gotten a Facebook message from me saying I am sad....I am not sad.

There are "issues" at FB...hacking or whatever...with things being sent out purporting to being from your friends.

Again...I'm not sad.  I'm tired.

I'm ready to go home.

But not sad.

I thought Catherine Zeta-Jones was stunt casting, too.
