I thought bad puns went out with Victorian drama.

Well. my life is a Freudian Drama - doesn't that count?

I think you are right, DR CP - but I'm trying................

I've always liked the play, and I liked very much the last revival. I thought the cast, particularly Ebersole, was very good, but the play's all about her so I'm sure she was happy. Lansbury was a good choice for Mme Arcati, but I think the role came too late in her career. I can't even imagine Penelope Keith in the part; she's not zany enough.

I'm up to my left frontal lobe in work this week...and each day brings new fuel to feed the flames of hell.

My right frontal lobe is buried because I have a habit of tilting my head to the right most of the time while I'm working.

Happiest of birthdays to DR George's mother and to DR Cillaliz's father!

Should I be concerned or is this simply a case of the apple not falling far from the tree department:

DS Zach forwarded me his alternate lyric to Do-Re-Mi:

Doe, a deer, a female deer, Oh, an apple full of thread!
Woah, what have, I just now sung, That makes little or no sense!!
That, is why, I teach a school, Because, my brain is made of bread!!
And so, for now, until next year, you will eat at J D pence!!!

Personally I feel this places him in the front rank of current Broadway lyricists.  ;)

I'm cleaning out my inbox and found this funny email from a singer.  I may have posted it here before:

Before  a gig,  the bandleader calls the girl  singer over to him and  tells  her, "Tonight, when we do 'Night and Day,' I want you to sing  the  second verse first, and then break into the bridge one bar earlier than usual. Transpose the bridge up a minor third, but then back  down  again for the last three bars of it. Then add a 5/4 bar going  back into the FIRST chorus, singing on only off-beats. During the  sax solo, go to the bridge a bar-and-a-HALF too early, interrupting  the solo, finish the first verse, go to the coda a bar late, and  then keep  singing for a full 3 beats after the band has  ended."
Her eyes widen and she says, "That's  way  too hard, I can't do all that."

He says, "Why not?  You did it last night!!"

How do you know there is a soprano at your front door?

She can't find her key and she doesn't know when to come in.

My question for ASK BK Day.....have you ever seen a stage production of Noel Coward's BLITHE SPIRIT?

Who was in it and what did you think of it?

Yes, as written here last year, I saw the recent production of Blithe Spirit on Broadway, which was quite entertaining.

Well that is quite as bad as asking you to record a song that you already had on a cd.

This is for DR Cillaliz.  I believe you saw the movie THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO, right?

And you said you just finished the book.  (People who have not read the book and watched the movie might not want to read this) although i believe DR Jane knows this already, it's re: the ending of the book vs the ending of the movie (but does not spoil the main case).

After reading the book I"m curious what you thought of the ending of the movie.  I remember seeing the movie shortly after i read the book. And in the book there is a key thing that Lisbeth sees that makes her want to leave (seeing mikael and erika together).  But in the movie they didn't do this at all.  I remember thinking after watching that movie that this was so weird. Because it was a key motivation for the beginning of the next book.

I just got off the phone with the helper's mother.  Happily, the mother really likes me (I took the helper, her mother, and her sister to a lovely Genghis Cohen dinner) and she also knows how well I've treated her daughter.  I took the mother through the story step by step and she was appalled and apologetic on behalf of her daughter.  I told her that I'd asked for the invoices to be on my doorstep by noon today or at my mail place.  The mother then informed me that her daughter is nannying in Santa Barbara for the next two days, so I think we know the invoices won't be here or at the mail place.  The mother assured me she would call her daughter right now and straighten this out - she, too, feels she may have lost the invoices.  So, one way or another, perhaps I'll finally find out the story today.  The mother said she'd call me back after she speaks to her daughter.

Not sure what this means.  It was the production with Angela Lansbury.  I also performed in the musical version of Blithe Spirit, High Spirits.
