DW Wife Betsy just finished Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS and says it's the best thing she's read in years.

In the you never who you might be playing for department, I did a retirement home gig tonight and was doing my usual chit-chat about "A" sides and "B" sides vis a vis the "B" side that became I Left My Heart in San Francisco (who besides BK knows what the "A" side was?).  Anyhoo, some elderly Jewish guy came up to me afterwards and said, "I'll tell *you* a story about 'A' sides and 'B' sides," and it turned out he had been a staff writer and PR guy for Mercury Records for most of his life and had co-written some novelty tune whose 'B' side was the original recording of 'That's My Desire' with Frankie Laine before he had changed his name.  :)

TOD - our family is quite fond of INDEPENDENCE DAY and will soon have to fulfill our tradition of watching it on or around the 4th of July every year.

I didn't think about "Independence Day."  I really like that, too.  My family watches this every other year.  We switch off between that and "1776." :D

Back from yet another marvelously marvelous home-cooked meal at the Jones's.  Tonight she made a chicken dish that instantly entered my pantheon of great dishes.  And, best of all, I have the recipe, which I'll share tomorrow.  She found the recipe in a magazine a couple of months ago.  Basically, it's chicken breasts - dipped in butter, and then rolled in crumbled Ritz crackers, garlic, and shredded cheddar cheese, then baked.  It was, in a word, spectacular.  I'm still tasting it and I'll be making it, perhaps this very weekend.  It's really simple, too.  With it, we had Spanish rice and green beans, and for dessert, homemade chocolate pudding pie with whipped cream.

They have cut our shift in half, so I went from mega-overtime to four hours a day. Go figure. But I returned home to discover that a resume I sent in online has been seen and they want to talk with me, first over the phone. That's good news, at least.

Congrats and Good Luck, John G.!!

I think I'll go watch a little more of a motion picture on the DVR.  Just need to sit and zone a bit.

Off to make dinner. Got a host of farm-grown heirloom tomatoes and some goat cheese. Sounds like a meal in the making.

I just finished Josh Kilmer-Purcell's THE BUCOLIC PLAGUE, DR John G; you might enjoy it. I really did!

DRs, did any of you watch the series ELI STONE? I'm thinking about renting it for something to watch till BONES Season 5 turns up. Any thoughts?

I really enjoyed "Eli Stone."  It was cancelled much too early.
