In the IF ANYONE BUT ME CARES Department: The court decided on Friday afternoon NOT to halt the State's Furlough Temporary Layoff Program.

I care!  And my sister said today that she just got her layoff papers. :-\

Happy 3rd AND 4th! Tonight we went to the largest fireworks show in the southeast, at Lenox Square. We walked from our house to a neighborhood next to the mall and settled in among the residents. If you drive to this event it takes hours to get out of the traffic to get home, so it was really fun to enjoy it without dealing with traffic. We had a great view without a big crowd of people.

Lunch today with the family was delightfully delightful.  We played Scrabble (I came in fourth out of five!) and ate and chatted, then left when my niece's other grandmother came over so that both grandmothers could go and gamble at the local casino.  I'm at home watching TV, now.

There is a lot of noise outside.  I think my cat's hiding upstairs under my bed.

People have been shooting lots of loud fireworks outside. We're been trying to figure out where they're coming form but all we can see is smoke.

While we were at the fireworks show, a dog ran out of the neighborhood, heading towards the mall. He looked very frightened and was running very fast. I do not understand why people don't lock their dogs in if they're living where fireworks can be heard. When we lived in Marietta, almost every year we ended up with a lost dog that had run away from the fireworks up on the square.
Even our cats hid today when they heard fireworks.

We had leftovers from the big celebration last night. Some friends of ours who have a beautiful old historic home in Marietta have a big party every year. Greg and a few other friends get together and play music for the party. They've been practicing for months for this, but as usual, they end up as background music because everyone talks to friends they haven't seen all year. There are lots of good cooks in this group of friends, including some with superb vegetable gardens, so we came home with some nice veggies. We got home at 2AM this morning, so that's why I was E&T on the 3rd.

It's always a challenge to decide what to make. I ended up fixing a recipe I've used before. It's supposed to make 6-8 servings but I added another half recipe. Well, it made TONS of servings and I keep forgetting it does that. Everyone liked it a lot and several people tracked me down for the recipe, but I still ended up with enough to send home with half a dozen folks.

I made sesame noodles with asparagus tips. It's a good dish for an outdoor party because you don't have to worry about anything going bad if it sits out for awhile.

Someone sent me a link to some stupid site offering my Promises CD 2 for free download.  I just wrote them a VERY strong letter and hopefully it will be down by tomorrow.

For some reason, I used to be able to type the word "from", but now, every time, it comes out "form". Is this something that comes with age? It's really annoying.

Did I mention that I got an AARP card in the mail and I'm only going to be 49?  It asked me to join so I could learn how to enjoy my life after 50.  LOL, not only am I not 50, but I'm not trying to figure out what to do with my life when I turn 50.  They will not get my money now...maybe later...not now
