Well, you've read the notes, the notes were accompanied by Otto Harp's Autoharp, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently taking Autoharp lessons so they can play the fugue in B minor by Lutz Meyerbrinkenheimer von Stuffel-Becksteinmeuhrer.

Indeed DR CILLA LIZ - the heat and humidity are exacerbated by the planetary activity including but not limited to Uranus in retrograde.

The Uranus retrograde officially occurs at 9:50AM PDT, its influence has been building during the past weekend and its impact can continue easily for the rest of today and for the next few days. All Uranus themes - radical change, innovation, intuition, advances on the cutting edge of science, high technology, the multi-media, aviation, breakthroughs in consciousness, esoteric and occult studies, surprises, shock waves, anxiety, the nervous system, lightning-like realizations, awakenings - are highlighted. With Uranus in charge and also sometimes acting like an alarm clock that won't stop ringing, be on your toes throughout the day and night. Circumstances beyond your control may be attempting to run the show.

I just think that they should promote it for what it is. Although i didn't know that it was dubbed in English. I'm going to request this from the library and see what the difference is from the French version (where i thought the dubbing was quite good).

Good morning, all! I awoke with a painful lower back around 1:30 this morning and I was awake most of the night in discomfort. Around 3 am, I took one of last year's muscle relaxers and finally passed out some time around 4. I really want to go back to bed, but I have too much to do.

I need to visit the Theatre Collection of the NYPL and I need to think about the rest of my schedule.

TOD:

Either a piano or a sax.  I always admired people who could entertain at parties just by sitting down at a piano and play just about anything.  And I like saxes cause I like the riffing and jazzing.

Piano artists I like:  Van Cliburn, Vince Guaraldi, Thelonius Monk, Marian Macpartland

Saxaphone artists:  Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, John Coltrane, David Sanborn

We watched THE APARTMENT last night.  After 50 years, it remains one of the great movies.

But, watching it, I kept thinking about PROMISES, PROMISES, which will (hopefully) arrive today.  [Here in Texas, they still, at times, seem to use the Pony Express.]

I was wondering if, for the musical, they revamped the role of "C.C. Baxter," because as great a performer as he was, I can't really Jerry Orbach in that part.

Baxter, as written by Wilder/Diamond and played by Jack Lemmon, is a likable schnook.  Certainly, I can see Sean Hayes playing a schnook and, to a lesser degree, Tony Roberts, who (I believe) I saw do it in Los Angeles 40 years ago.

But, for the life of me, even though he won the Tony for his performance, I cannot see Orbach as a schnook.  [Nor, can I really see Jack Lemmon playing a NY Homicide cop.]

Did anybody here see Orbach do the role?  Did they de-schnook him (i.e. the role)?

We arrived in Rapid City yesterday after a VERY long day of driving, part of which was abated by DW Wife Betsy reading to me from a little book about Mel, Woody, and some other guy.  ;)  We went to Mt. Rushmore after dinner and stayed for the lighting ceremony.  The Ranger did Presidential trivia before the documentary they show, and I seemed to be the only one there with a lot of useless answers in my head.  :)  As much of a tourist trap as it seems to be, it was charming to drive through the little town of Keystone on the way to the monument.  Because it was getting late, we decided not to go see Crazy Horse.

I know you are all waiting with bated breath for my next report, which will probably be from Sioux Falls.

I had plenty of lessons as a kid, but my fingers were never that coordinated.

Elmore, here is Percy Faith's second recording of "Delicado".  This one probably doesn't have the Landowska harpsichord, but you can at least hear it.  This one *does* have a great new sax and bone countermelody that Percy didn't have in his original version:

Well, here is today's "entertainment is where you find it" video--a video of a record player playing the original 78's of Percy's Jamaican Rhumba and the original version of "Delicado" (at around 3:04) with the Landowska harpsichord:

In fact, George Maharis is a much better actor then I was expecting him to be. I need to see more of his stuff.

DR MBarnum, and any other interested DRs, may see more of Mr. Maharis' stuff if they type "George Maharis Playgirl" into Google and then click on "Images."
