'Sister Act' musical finally heading to Broadway

Following productions in Pasadena, Atlanta and London, the stage musical adaptation of "Sister Act" is finally making its way to Broadway.

The show's producers -- including Whoopi Goldberg, who starred in the 1992 Touchstone Pictures film -- said Thursday that the musical will open in New York in the spring of 2011, but they did not specify an opening date or a theater.
...
Producers said they are planning a Hamburg, Germany, production of "Sister Act" that is set to open in December.

DR MBarnum, how is DD Bosco?

He is holding on. I got him to eat yesterday and Tuesday, but he wouldn't eat this morning. Thanks for asking.

Just hold onto the strength to let him go when it's time.

So Paul said they found a partially finished 4th novel in Sieg Larsson's computer when he died.  Is that a rumor or is it true?

You be the judge:

NY TIMES MAGAZINE

Eva Gabrielsson, Larsson's partner, in Stockholm. Excluded in the division of his estate, she still has a coveted possession: an unfinished fourth novel.

Quote

Legally Gabrielsson has no claim, but she has asserted a kind of moral entitlement. She also has a crucial piece of the Larsson legacy: a laptop computer containing roughly three-quarters of a fourth novel.

...

der Brucer

The link is to a very long detailed article on the author and his life/estate

"Gabrielsson, now 54, lived with Stieg Larsson from 1974 until his death in 2004. Yet, due to Swedish inheritance laws, she was not entitled to a single krona.  Instead, Larsson’s father and brother, with whom Eva claims Larsson had little contact, inherited the rights to the books."

I don't blame her for holding out.  They should have offered her a three way split.  This is a perfect example of why people should have wills even if they don't want to think about it.  Considering the death threats he received I'm really surprised he didn't have a will.

Look at the size of the dragon on the book cover. For those of you who read the book recently-how big should the dragon be?

It's pretty crazy. I was with her until she said that she does not ever want to see the books published.

I could see if she didn't want his dad to get any more money.

The silly thing is the article says that the father and brother don't even care about money.

Gosh i'm driving myself crazy. There is a contest i want to enter that is in French. There are 2 clues. They want the name of a company/business in montreal. The postal code starts with H1Y (there are tons of streets with this). And it says that part of the name contains a nationality.

So i was thinking of "Canadian Pacific" or "American Eagle". The internet which i thought would help (at least showing businesses with that postal code) is not helping me at all.  I have a map and i can sort of see the area. But i don't know where to go from there.

If that is true about the father & brother than they should have offered her more money.  She wants more control over the creative aspect so she just might be saying that about not wanting them published.

And did you read that Whoopi Goldberg, one of the investors of the London production and the original Deloris in the movies, is going to join that production as the Mother Superior

Last night I commented that I wouldn't want to watch an amazon download if i had to watch it on my computer.

DR TCB asked why.

Cause my tv is MUCH bigger than my computer screen!

I meant why would you watch it on your computer screen when Nextflix allows you to watch it on your TV screen.

She thought that was what Cilla was doing, only Cilla downloaded it to her tv.

TOD:

I would have gone to college.

I would have interviewed actor William Boyett before he died.

I would have continued dating that doctor.

Does that mean that you did interview actor Willima Boyett after he died?

I'm worried about the subsequent two Dragon films since they're directed by different people.

Since I have nothing to lose by reading the reviews, which give too much of the plot away, I checked out a few.  Nothing was mentioned about the director.  Overall the plot wasn't as well liked at the first movie.  All the reviews rave about the two stars again and make fun of any possible American cast.  There were complaints about the acting for some of the new people in "Fire".  Not as good as "Tattoo" but still very good.

But i don't get why she would want to deny people the chance to read the books.

I suspect this is the cry of a women being scorned - enough money will probably ease the pain. (...and a deal that would include her in the creative process!)

der Brucer

Very interesting article, thanks for the link, Der B.  Not sure who is the culprit...

Ms Becca Luker was as lovely as ever. We had a great Victor Herbert rehearsal, and she seems happy with all her song assignments. Then she and I walked up Broadwat from 73rd Street to the 86th Street subway, catching up and gossiping. I do love her.

And the good news is that the McGlinn estate sent me a check today for last month's work. Thank you, Jesus!

YEAH!!!
