I've been thinking about reading EVERY MAN DIES ALONE.  Has anyone read it?
This is more about the interesting author than the book. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Every-Man-Dies-Alone/Hans-Fallada/e/9781933633633

I am currently reading it.

AND?

DR Cillaliz - I agree with Jane, stay out of it.  Probably a good idea, in general, not to let strangers sleep in your house.

As I think i said, the labor dept people seemed especially interested that my boss had tried to withhold my actual final Paycheck in order to force a release.  (I don;t care if they know that.)

These things have a way of consuming.  I'd imagine it's like having an 18-year relationship or friendship end suddenly.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - original Swedish title?  The Air Castle that Blew Up.

I will have much to say about the third film, but I will say that it only solidifies that the second film was exactly what it needed to be.

Good to see you, FJL. I'm sorry you are having such a rough time with former employers.

Yes.  It is sad they are treating you this way.  How long did you work for them?

I think we will wait for both movies on DVD before we watch the second one.  I suspect Keith will enjoy it more that way.

While browsing the book store today two other books were suggested though they didn't interest me as much as Every Man.  Has anyone read THE MAGICIANS or THE AMERICAN GIRL?
I read a book by J.B. Priestley called "The Magicians." Wasn't one of his better works. But I would imagine there are other novels of the same name out there.

Spent the last 10 hours working (on my day off). So, it's off to bed. Night, all.

I just finished watching THE BROTHERS RICO.

I liked it, as I do with most of Phil Karlson's films, but I thought that the ending was rather abrupt.

Cilla, be sure to let us know if you got conned into letting him inside. :)

Not going to happen.  I'm actually glad my friend Joe is going to be staying here.  He and his wife are good friends, and he was my contractor at the lake.  It's nice that there will definitely be someone here I know. I have no idea who else I told that they can stay here and how many people I've told to stop by, lol.  This may be a crazy party....or they may all take the bus downtown to the concert and just show up to sleep.

The bad news is the forecast is rain all week.  I'm hoping it holds off long enough for the men to get the deck put back together and the gazebo floor in.

I'm not going to let him stay in, but I do need to leave the door unlocked so they can use the bathroom
