Or maybe they played "The Bird on Nellie's Hat."

Or possibly the main theme from PSYCHO?

Our PBS stations are rebroadcasting SOUTH PACIFIC at 2pm today - to watch or not to watch?

I hope that I can watch, since I have not seen it yet.

The Vertigo Tour....but I guess that takes a WHOLE day.

Is there really a Vertigo tour? Where does one look it up?

Except for the title song Sherry! I'm not sure that I like the rest of the score. I think Ken Mandelbaum (whatever happened to him?) was right the play doesn't work with a musical score shoehorned in and especially one that's not spectacular. I'm glad I heard it based on BK's recording of the title song.
I agree. And filling the roles with stars doesn't mean they're better for the material than Jonathan Freeman and Christine Baranski.

Did I mention my cousin Ross did very well in his little set at the comedy club last night?  Yes, indeed, he did.

Good afternoon!

I've finally watched all of South Pacific.  I'm so glad Lincoln Center, PBS and whoever else made the broadcast possible.  It's a great memento of the show!

Good morning again!

Thanks for all the kitty vibes. She's due for her allergy shot tomorrow so we can do dual duty and get the tumor checked out. Usually a cortisone shot takes care of it, but we try to prolong giving her that as much as possible.

The alarm has gone off twice today. We can jolt everyone awake during the sermon if it goes off again then.

The temperature is much lower but the humidity seems to be off the charts. I just came in from some errands and I'm soaked!

I didn't want to but I've turned on the AC and I'll stay in for much of the rest of the day.

I haven't done any banning yet - we'll see what happens.  And I wonder if there are yet more names involved.

Yay, Fr. Richard is home!

Decided to have SOUTH PACIFIC on in the background while I putter in my "haven."  Both desks need attention, as does the table next to my chair.  All surfaces are piled with books and paperwork.

After a lot of discussion over the last few days, I have decided not to sell to any more overseas dealers.  They simply don't order enough stuff, and it's always a pain.  My main US dealer had told me that his foreign guy was annoyed that we were selling to the six or seven dealers we do, and he'd cut his orders way down.  He used to take 200 of everything from the US guy.  So, they talked, and that guy is now the exclusive foreign dealer.  I'm sure this won't make my foreign people happy but this is a good title to get them used to it, since, if they're smart, they'll have to have it.  This way, I never have to stand in line at the post office, and we probably won't ever have to fill out a large customs form again, unless a foreign person orders ten at full price.  Obviously, we'll still be selling to all our foreign customers, and we've got a nice amount of those.

JRand, indeed I did enjoy some Steve Cochran last night. I watched HIGHWAY 301, and it was wonderful. Steve, of course, is always a fascinating actor to watch. Gaby Andre was quite good, and poor Aline Towne's demise...oh, my...much more shocking then I would have expected. And Robert Webber...well, what a hottie! I don't know why he didn't have a better career.

Tonight I shall watch Cochran's film TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY. Thanks so much for sending these JRand!

It's currently pouring rain in Manhattan.

If I could send it to Arizona, I would do so.

I had cockles once for dinner. Or was that winkles? I hope my heart doesn't have any, whatever they were. They tasted like I would imagine cooked erasers would taste.

As if to prove my point exactly, someone posted on the All That Chat board that they thought South Pacific would be MUCH better if it started with the seabees and There's Nothing Like a Dame (only it wouldn't start with that - it would be Bloody Mary).  As I said the other day, that's exactly the way Musicals 101 would say it had to be.  And who did the post?  The gal who wrote the Stephen Schwartz book - Mr. Schwartz being one of the crafters of Musicals 101.
