Lovely pictures, td!

Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

Former DR singdaw will join the men's chorus for the Victor Herbert recording. I'm still waiting to hear from Merrill about singing with the ladies.

Digging around on wikipdia, I found a 1903 Chicago publicity photo of William Norris in BABES IN TOYLAND

Saw that George David Weiss died. I know "First Impressions" wasn't a hit, but there are a few lovely songs in it.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/24/arts/music/24weiss.html?_r=1&ref=arts

I'd read yesterday that Martin Short Loses Wife to Cancer. :(
I read that last night. Very sad.

It's stormy here today. Weird storms, too. Gray-yellow skies to the left with plenty of rain and clear blue skies to the right. Winds are blowing up a huge fuss with magazine racks and large limbs darting about here and there.  But it has cooled things down to a nice 90 degrees. Better than the 102 it was earlier.

There is a big storm brewing north of town. I hope it makes it here!

Prior to that we got all the CDs packaged and shipped, did a Costco run and picked up some mail.

AHNA CAPRI on IMDB SITE

"Retro Actress Capri Dies In Car Crash"

Sad To Report That Ahna Capri Was Killed In A Car Accident Over The Weekend

I saw that, too.

Very sad.  I was very fond of her.

There is currently an old coot on the Film Score Monthly message board.  This guy and one other were singlehandedly responsible for the demise of the filmusl listserve.  This guy has been in the business for many years, is retired, and has nothing to do but sit at his computer all the livelong day.  When filmusl closed down, he found the FSM board - he tried posting under a fake name but a few of us knew exactly who he was, so we outed him - now he posts under his own name.  He pontificates, acts as if everything he says is gospel (most of it is pure speculation and some of it he is absolutely incorrect) - he cannot stop posting and making it all about - HIM.  It is most annoying.

Having endless sync problems with Ye Olde iPhone and have been doing their chat thing a few times today - apparently there is a KNOWN issue with the iPhone doing double calendar entries - I'm fine with that as long as it's fixed.  But now I entered an appointment into the phone's calendar - that is supposed to synch with my computer and mobile me calendars - it hasn't - so now I'm waiting to chat again, and this time I see no reason to be docile, oh, no, no reason to be docile at all.

My other bit of good news is that Sara Jean Ford, who was Kate Baldwin's standby in FINIAN'S RAINBOW, is taking over the role of Christine in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. It's always good to know pretty young sopranos!

Or hunky young baritones.

How about TPunk, Elmore?

Ummmmmmmmm . . . No.

Ron Raines and his wife Dona have vocal students they can recommend for me.

I still enjoy Phantom and listen to the CD now and then.....and go see it when it comes through town....

Having seen the WSMA in the Vegas production of PHANTOM; I can't imagine sitting thru the longer and slower Broadway production of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

Sherlock still has to keep a bandage on his tail and the vet gave him a new antibiotic :(  We have to return again on Friday.  Sigh.

I took the long way home from the vet today to avoid a fire.  Details are still not available as to how many houses have burned or if the fire is under control.  We could see the fire from the vets office.  About an hour ago the office said it looked like there was less smoke.  The online paper hasn't updated the news since 5:35.  At least there isn't much wind today.
