Jimmy Fallon is hosting?  Come on, NBC.....look outside your employee roster for someone who might have the skills for the job....I guess we should be glad it wasn't Tracy Morgan or Amy Poehler.

And I see that the EMMY awards are on this evening.

Anybody planning to watch them?

I have a meeting at work tonight from 7 to 9.

TRUE BLOOD is on at 9.  (dvr is set).

MAD MEN follows.  (dvr is set).

Work tomorrow at 9 am.

No Emmies for me, and no real interest except for a Matthew Fox win.

A busy day ahead.  When I agreed to do the Fringe show I knew there would be a couple bottleneck days that would be tricky time-wise, and today is one of them.

It's our final FringeNYC performance this afternoon of the Hurricane Katrina play, aptly falling on the five year anniversary of the storm.  We're doing it as a benefit performance for Hands on New Orleans.  It's also the last day of the Fringe Festival, so after the show, not only do we have to load our stuff out of the Soho Playhouse, but we have to help load out the Festival from the venue.  Stuff like dismanteling the plot and removing the fixtures.

Then, while venue load-out is going on, uptown at the Metropolitan Room is the CD release party for the Clear Blue Tuesday soundtrack that Sh-k-Boom is doing.  I will try to get over there for at least part of that.  Afterwards, I have stuff I have to do for Show Choir.  We start rehearsals on Tuesday, and tomorrow is our final pre-production team meeting.

Those two wing blades on the Emmy statue sure look sharp.  I wonder if anyone's accidentally stabbed themselves.

For those that might be interested. I came across yesterday that AMAZON is having a $5.00 MP3 downlaod sale. I was able to replace a couple of cds that seemed to have disappeared from my collection.

Pal Joey (Studio 1950)
Paint Your Wagon
Fiddler On The Roof (Alfred Molina)
Assassins (Broadway)
Pacific Overtures (Broadway Revival)

and one that I think everyone who enjoyed Billy Barnes' LA will like this one:
The Billy Barnes Revue with many of the the same performers in BB's LA

Pal Joey & Paint Your Wagon (and also original casts of Finian's Rainbow, Brigadoon, South Pacific, Carousel) are what I like to call "bootleg" releases. But they are not really. Their copyright has expired in Europe and there is a company in England that are re-releasing them. I believe they do not have the master tapes, but use other sources to produce their releses.

Other $5.00 Broadway downloads are
Big River
Nine (Broadway revival)
Billy Elliott (Original cast. Not sure if it means London or Broadway)
State Fair 1945 Radio Broadcast
Marigold (London cast) Never heard of this one before
Grey Gardens (Broadway Cast)
Little Mermaid (Broadway)
9 to 5 (Broadway)
Monsters Inc (Film)
The Fantasticks (Off-Broadway Original cast)
One Touch of Venus (Broadway)
Fiorello! (Not sure if this is the "bootleg" or not but does not have the Capitol or Broadway Angel Logo on the cover)

Some related Vocal albums
Shirley Temple at the movies
Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Addlerly
Lena Horn (Stormy Weather)
Sarah Vaughn (After Hours)
Nancy Wilson & George Shearing (The Swingin's Mutual)
Hoagy Sings Carmichael

Several Ultra Lounge cds

and for $5.94 you can get William Shatners The Transformed Man

Happy Hunting (Not the musical but good luck in finding something you might like.)

EMMY AWARDS.......Emmy Rossum or Faye Emmyson?

I really hope Kyra gets one this year. She's been nominated 5 times, (every year I've worked on it) and deserves to win! Also, Andre Braugher from Men of a Certain Age is nominated, along with Beau Bridges who guest starred as a cross-dressing former detective. Both of the guys were great. I would be really happy if Andre won; he was the emotional core of that show.

As for our Mercer doc, which is also up for an Emmy tonight, well...we'll probably hoist a few...to numb the pain.

Well, I certainly have mixed feelings about the doc. On the one hand it would be a nice thing to win and I know that our work was one reason it was nominated. But I also feel that if we were allowed to make the film it should have been, it would stand a good change of winning and I would feel proud. But now if it wins, everyone on the team except for two people would feel that it was validating bad behavior and bad decisions on the part of a couple of people. The real reason it has done as well as it has is because Johnny is so wonderful.

Edisaurus, I understand your ambivalence about the Mercer piece. Sounds something similar to DR Elmore and the dreaded album that won't be mentioned. Just be glad you have moved on to better things.

I don't know enough to cast a vote, but I've gathered a few hints over the last few days as to its intent. I'll leave it for more informed heads to decide.
