Of course, THE INNOCENTS scared the piddle out of me when I first saw it in the theater.  I remember, even now, thinking that I finally knew what a cold sweat meant.

I wonder if the film holds up after all these years?

As far as I'm concerned it holds up very well, very well indeed.

THE INNOCENTS was my very first commission for underscore.  I wrote a rather haunting little violin theme for the girl to play (is that right?  Is she the one who plays?).  I bet I still have the music somewhere.  I was all of 14 or 15 or so.

BTW if you not to see Robert Morse and Anthony Roberts recreating their roles in female attire watch  My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies. The sing and perform The Beauty That Drives A Man Mad

Just watched this.  Cute.

As I recall now. Roberts didn't do the Los Angeles production.  It was Larry Kert.

Nope - it was Joe Namath!

der Brucer

Um, no - this was an 80s production with Namath.  The one Druxy is referring to opened in 1974 a year after the show's B'way closing.  It starred Morse, Larry Kert, NOT Elaine Joyce but Leland Palmer as Sugar, and Cyril Ritchard - the latter had a heart attack shortly into the run and Gale Gordon replaced him.

So, Druxy was wrong on two cast members - but he now has the correct information.  All this is mentioned in the booklet notes.

You're right, LACLO did two productions, 10 years apart - 1974 and 1984

Back from a mile and a half jog and am watching the second movie in the Red Riding trilogy - I wondered why they didn't film the fourth book and today someone e-mailed me and told me - it was actually the second book they didn't film, for both budgetary reasons and because apparently not much happens in that book, which is called 1977.

Hmmm.  I could have sworn Morse took the credit - maybe they did ANOTHER production.  Andy Bew would have just been recreating Gower's work, then - he was in the original.

Where in Germany?  My mom (who is German) has pictures of a visit from a few years ago and the landscape is very similar to this.  She's from Bavaria, in the south.

Just found out the lyricist of "Suicide is Painless" (the MASH theme song) was all of 14 when he wrote that lyric.    He was also Robert Altman's son.

Does anyone have a Sony Ericsson cell phone?  I have always had Samsung and it is fairly easy to go from one phone to the other.  So far I can make calls & answer this phone and that is about it.  I'm reading the booklet however it seems to be lacking the information I want/need.

Did Morse repeat his role in the 1984 production?

If not, who played the part?

Also, the Ritchard/Gordon role?

There was another show that Ritchard was set for that I had tickets for, then he was replaced.

He was to do THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT with Joel Grey at Melodyland, but he was replaced by Murray Matheson.

I guess Cyril didn't want to perform for me.

Mike Altman offers some interesting views of his father, writing the lyrics and the whole Altman scene in "Robert Altman: The Oral Biography."

Just back from a great steak dinner at a place called the Hangin' Tree Saloon, which surprisingly caters to an older crowd. All are country-western fans, of course. But the band tonight, named Geronimo, could have been called Geriatric. Great music, though, and the steak was a real steal. A 14-ounce sirloin with a ginormous baked potato and a salad for $12.

Was Joe Namath any good? Or am I being silly for asking such a question. I remember really horrible 70s tours of good shows with bad people. Another that comes to mind is Rock Hudson in "On the 20th Century." (The tour I saw with Frank Gorshin was probably even worse because Gorshin couldn't hit a note.)

Yes, the picture was taken on a tour of Mad Ludwig's castles in the south of Bavaria. This is Schloss Linderhof.

Here's another:

Hios directing and choreography credits include speciality numbers for Lillian Gish and Cyril Ritchard in the Broadway production of A Musical Jubilee, Sugar starring Donald O"Coonor and Robert Morse...and international companies of Peter Pan, Carnival, and Sugar.
