Topic of the Day:  I've never followed any true-life crime story.  I tend to avoid them.

But that's just me. :)

There was an article in TV GUIDE many years ago - back when it really WAS a program guide - and some television producer was interviewed.  He had been the producer of Dinah Shore's first television show....a 15 minute nightly or twice weekly show.

They set Monday's show on Friday and everybody left.  Dinah called him that night and told him that she wanted to do "Shrimp Boats" on Monday's show instead of one of the numbers planned.  The producer proceeded to tell the story of ALL of the problems he had in getting the number together for rehearsal on Monday morning.....dancers, choreographer, musical director, musicians....and painted a rather unflattering portrait of Dinah.

I thought it was kind of mean of him to do so - after about 25 years.....but it obviously stayed with him that he had to DO HIS JOB.

TOD:

For those of you who read my book, you'll know that the two true life crime stories that fascinated me the most were the William Desmond Taylor  and "Bugsy" Siegel murders.

More personal were the murders of Sal Mineo (also in the book) and actress Susan Cabot, who I briefly represented and even dated.

That's the documentary about the revival of A CHORUS LINE.

Terrific!

We also watched DATE NIGHT.

Carrell and Fey were wonderful.  They work well together.

But, there were a couple of plot choices that the writers made that were totally unbelievable and completely took me out of the picture.

The sad thing is that they could have accomplished exactly the same result if they'd just handled those turns a little smarter.

Good morning, all! My alarm went off at 7"15 and I decided to sleep a bit more. At 8:15 I almost got out of bed but decided that I was lazt, so at 9:15 I finally got out of bed. I was dreaming that I was teaching at some experimental Miami University high school. Oy! I'd like that.

Today, lots of piddly things in prep for the beginning of the recording in two weeks: I've got a couple of numbers to write out, a sketchy piano part by Mr Herbert to turn into a song accompaniment, and to begin notes on everything being recorded.  These will take up most of my weekend. Which is nice, since I love an excuse to go nowhere. I'm reading Carl Hiaasen's latest novel and I will fill my free time with that and THRILLER episodes.

TOD: HELTER SKELTER: that Manson clan was one set of creepy folk
KILLER CLOWN: serial killers creep me out, too

Joe Namath in the Jones Beach production of DAMN YANKEES was a joyous show indeed.

I still remember the ads included a quote from Channel 5's Stewart Klein;  "Joe Namath sings better than Lauren Bacall."

Saturday morning greetings!  Our walking plans for Smith Park have fallen through because Richard has a funeral to do with the honor guard and I don't think walking alone would be a good idea.  Maybe I'll just walk around our block a few times...

We're back from grocery shopping. Now that Anthony is back from Annapolis and Long Island we need food. We went to Western Beef and Trader Joe's with our granny cart and bought ground turkey for a meat loaf, chicken breasts for dinner, some frozen dinners for easy time when I don't want to cook and lots of other staples (eggs, milk, bread, yogurt, etc.). Now we need to eat so I can make some Jello and put it in the refrigerator.

I'm having oatmeal with walnuts, cinnamon and strawberries. I had a cup of coffee when I went to the greenmarket to get apples and pears (I like them better than the apples and pears at WB and TJ)
