Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very Saturday and a little fascinating, and now it is time for you to post until the fascinating cows come home.

Got to make a red velvet cake today for a friend's 60th birthday. When Mom made this cake in the days when Red Dye No. 2 was all the rage, she put a creamy filling in between the layers and topped it with a seven-minute frosting that was so named because you had to stand there for seven minutes with a hand mixer over a double boiler before it would set up.

I'm following her recipe, but I have added coconut to the filling and will make cream cheese frosting instead. Not because I don't want to stand there for seven minutes but because the cream cheese frosting is, surprisingly, less sweet.

Yumm, sounds great John.

Anthony was out on Long Island last week. He returned on Friday after having gone to Stop and Shop. While there he bought a frozen Red Velvet cake (frozen so it would last the train ride). After dinner on Friday night we each had a decadent slice.

Deb/Vix, I enjoyed La Cage though I do think the original was better. I guess I was impressed that Kelsey Grammer could actually pull it off. He was much better than I thought he would be. He has since retreated from the idea that after 6 months he would switch roles and play Albin. In my humble opinion that would have been a train wreck! He and Douglas Hodge are scheduled to leave the show at the same time (I can't remember the exact date). I think at that point the show will probably close up shop. Unfortunately, I don't think it can survive without a star in at least one of the roles.

I've been watching the 2nd Season of SONS OF ANARCHY on DVD.

If you're not familiar with the series, it might best be described as "Hamlet Meets The Hell's Angels".

Actually, it's an excellent show, great writing, direction and acting.

My problem with the DVD set is that it contains NO RECAPS of the first season or previous episodes.

So, since the First Season was released a year ago, you sit there trying to remember everybody's relationship to each other, so that you can understand why so-and-so said this or did that to such-and-such.

Sometimes it's difficult, particularly when they refer back to some event that took place early in Season One and you can't recall what that event was.

Would it be that difficult (or expensive)  for the studios (Fox in this case, but other studios do it, too.) to include the same recaps on the DVD that proceed the episodes when they air on TV?

I think not.

 >:(

See, like BK, I can rant, too.

But, his rants are funnier.

My only real argument with the set is the closet barely visible in the left corner....it is a bedroom bi-fold door instead of a hinged door, which I thought would be  more appropriate for the house.....BUT I am merely an actor, not an architect or SET designer.

Oh, and no crown molding or woodwork on the top of the set so you can see the top edge of the flats...I HATE THAT!!!

As in this uncropped version of the picture above.  :P

DR Druxy, FOX didn't put the "Peviously On. . ." on any of the season sets for X FILES, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER or ANGEL. . .I don't think they're gonna start doing it now. . . :(

Good morning, all! I slept very late: 9:50 am, so I guess my body needed it.  i am now bathed and dressed and ready for a quiet day at home. I've got a piano-vocal arrangement of a Herbert manuscript to do for Ron Raines to record, and some fixes to do to one of the two vocal arrangements I did yesterday. Following that, I'll take a walk around the neighborhood, which is very very quiet today, come back, read a bit and watch more THRILLER episodes. Last night I watched and wept through the 2nd act of SOUTH PACIFIC  and the first three THRILLER episodes, none of which were very good.

DR Thom, I'm also confused; are you recuperating or still waiting for the surgery? I thought it had happened. At any rate, it's good to see you, and I hope you are okay. I'm sending you vibes against all potential perils!

I'll be there for both the signing and the Joe Allen get together.

Larry, Thom is waiting for his surgery. I think it's in about a week.

The details of the Lonergan case are about halfway down the page at this link...although the entire story is most interesting.
