Good Evening!

Well, my day started out on a sort of off-note, but it seems to have finished with a chorus of giggles. :)

On a related note, John Corigliano wrote a set of four songs titled, "The Cloisters".  You can listen to sound clips HERE.

This girl is amazing!!
http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/americas-got-talent-week-14-recap-jackie-evancho-advances-to-the-top-10--1511

My apologies if this has already been posted & I missed it.

That girl reminds me of Linda Blair from THE EXORCIST.  That big voice should not be coming from that little girl.

There was a story in the L.A. Times last week about her, her voice and her (possible) future:

Jackie Evancho's voice strikes a chord

What is your favorite Disney film of all time?

I know it's not the BEST one, but for some very sentimental reasons, my favorite Classic Disney film is "Cinderella".

Toy Story 2

I should have figurd that out.  I only saw the first TOY STORY.  I thought it was cute, but not cute enough to see 2 or 3.

DR TCB - You can kinda skip "Toy Story 2". However, "Toy Story 3" is very much a Should-See!

*Alas, I wish I could recommend the current live action "Toy Story" on the Disney Cruise Line, but... well... I can't.  However, I believe there are enough (basically illegal) clips of it on YouTube if anyone is interested in checking it out.

In other news...

Since Tuesday night's grand opening, the Foodie In Me has been drawn like a moth to a flame to the new Italian supermarket/restaurant, Eataly.

In short, it's a huge space that not only features various Italian groceries, but it also features a couple of mini-restaurants: salumi, cheese, vegetables, pizza, fish, gelato, pastries, coffee, etc.  It's the first American outpost of an Italian chain, and it's being run stateside by Mario Batali, Joe and Lidia Bastianich along with the original Italian founder, Oscar Farinetti.

There's been a lot of hype about the place, and in the first five days of business, they've managed to live up to most of it. It was also nice to see Chefs Batali and Bastianich in-house this past week too.

I thought most people would say MARY POPPINS was their favorite Disney film.
Mine is.

You're welcome.  -I'm thinking a garlic-and-chive-infused or chili-infused oil would work nicely.

Well,t he red velvet cake came out OK, except that it slid a little in transition from my house to Bonnie's. Did not affect the flavor one bit, however, and five of us ate three-fifths of the cake. All in all, a qualified success and a tasty one, too.

OH!

One very cool feature of Eataly is their "Vegetable Butcher". Once you select your produce, you can drop it off at the Vegetable Butcher, and they will peel, slice, dice, chop, etc., them according to your instructions. And there's no charge for the service!

*I asked two of the Vegetable Butchers what it was like to train with some of the Italian staff that came over for the store's opening. Well... It turns out the "Vegetable Butcher" is purely an "American invention". -The Italians know how to prepare their vegetables. In other words, Americans are lazy. ;)

Well, if the cake had ended up slipping and sliding apart, you could have easily made it into a batch of "cake balls" - which seem to be latest sweets craze here in NYC.  -All they are are mashed up cake with some frosting that is scopped and rolled into balls of cake, and then dipped in chocolate.
