I stopped walking to work...partly because I am lazy and partly because we had two stabbings one morning last week on one of the street that I walk on to get to work...less then a half mile from my house.

...some kids (16 year olds) stabbed an elderly man who was out collecting cans at 6 am, killing him, and then they drove up the street and stabbed a guy who was walking to work (who turned out to be a clerk at a store that I shop at...as I found out this weekend). He survived, but his arm right arm (which he used to protect himself) is a mess of stitches.

It seems it was random acts of violence on the part of these hooligans, and thankfully they have been caught, but very scary to have something like this happen in Salem.

Mike, I am so sorry to hear about the elderly man.  Had you two been dating long?

...which is what I've been saying for years. ::)

;)

I should walk to work, too.  But by the time I got there, it would be time to go home.

We didn't have such a thing as a Saturday matinee for a long time because children were not allowed in the movies except for special occasions like the release of a Disney Film or The Sound of Music. This was because years prior to this there was a terrible fire where many children died.

But sometime before 1967 the rules were changed because the first movie I saw on my own was Thoroughly Modern Millie (At "Popular Prices" 99 Cents)

After children were allowed in the theaters there were Saturday matinees (and Sundays) usually MGM's family friendly movies. It was on one of these outings I saw The Wizard Of Oz for he first time in technicolor. (I only had a B & W tv set at home

That is very sad.

Very scary.  I hope once you move you will feel more comfortable walking.

I liked my high school principle.  It was the girls v.p. who was scary as all heck.

Thank you to DRs JohnG, Ben, JRand, Dan(the Man), Kerry, and ArnoldMBrockman for the birthday wishes for our DS Rob!

DR Ginny, I totally forgot in all the tsuris before I headed out this morning! Happy Birthday to Rob!

On a bad round of news, I just got in from 6 hours at Music Theatre International and the Oaf Above Me appears to have not headed to Toronto. Damn!

DR Jane, to get to work from my new apartment I only have to walk through a big park and over the railroad tracks.

That should be safe enough.

Had to have some Cole Porter this morning, so I've got "Leave It to Me!" blasting out of the speakers. Love this score, even if the recording from 42nd St. Moon has only a small band instead of a full orchestra. His "Tomorrow" is like musical caffeine to me, and "Most Gentlemen Don't Like Love" always makes me smile.

I think I have work on that recording
