Watching "The City of Your Final Destination," the most recent James Ivory film. I can understand the appeal of this story to the director. It deals with an author who lived in a South American compound with his wife, mistress, child and gay brother (Anthony Hopkins). The secluded paradise they created must have been like the place in Chatham, N.Y., that Ivory created with Ishmael Merchant, Ruth Prawer Jhabvala and others while they planned their films.
