I had an interesting weekend.

Went to the pier to birdwatch, to try to get some feeling other than hating the pigeons pooping on my car etc., (the phone lines are right above my parking space).The sandpipers, seagulls, and whatever else hangs out near the waters edge are great, but pigeons are just rats with wings.

Then I found out that it's against the law to feed pigeons in Ventura and the police will actually come to your house and ticket the feeder.  So I think I will just let this play itself out, and let one of the other neighbors make the phone call.

Also discovered my new hangout for early morning coffee.   The local English pub, coffee and croissant for $3.00.   Yum and great.

The gardner trimmed everything I have been nursing in the yard since I moved in.   I like the forest overgrown green look, he seems to have another agenda.  So I changed the lock on the gate, he's not getting a key unless he quits his agenda and get with my program.  I haz spoken.

Then took a long walk (3 hours) along the boardwalk to surfers point.   There were at least 50 surfers (and a lot my age) and listened to the water wash up on the rocks along the walk.  I felt like I was in heaven.

Went to hear the new hot "it" band in town.  Shoemaker Brothers.  The new love songs being written are with lines about being in the war in Iraq.   The band was really wonderful, so glad I picked up their cd.  I've already listened to it 4 times since I got home.

Secured my rose bush with thread to the partition its next to for protection against the winds picking up.
Picked up up my ticket for a show in October at the Ventura Theatre, Los Lobos.   Tomorrow I will get my ticket for The Tempest at the Rubicon.   And then with bk's shows at the Gardenia, I'm all set for the rest of the year.

I'll be broke, but happy.
